    Default Halloween Reads

You guys reading anything for the Halloween season? I'm going to read Frankenstein. I haven't read it yet, but I've seen the movie & heard the song. I hope it's like the song.

I've been working on The Shining and The Girl on the Train (mystery) recently. Girl on the train isn't really a thriller but goodness The Shining book is miles scarier and better than the movie. It's a great scary read.

Gonna read Batman: The Long Halloween. I know the story but I've never read it.

Don't stop at Inferno! Read the whole Divine Comedy! I've read several different translations, but the best was one in Modern English. Many translations do a short of Early Modern English with 'ye' and such, but they're really no closer to the original Medieval Italian. It's just window dressing to give it a spurious 'old fashioned' feel.

    Purgatorio is my favourite.

    'Oh, mankind, born to fly,
Why do you fall to earth at the first breath of wind?'

I wanted to read the whole Divine Comedy but the friend lending me the book only had Inferno unfortunately.
