Watching the early episodes of Clannad is like watching the early episodes of True Detective. I can appreciate the quality of the anime but my god will it just pick up already. =| I live and die for the blonde dude getting beat up by the silver haired chick, it gets me through the build-up to whatever this is.

You listed a bunch of shows that you liked, but what exactly did you like about them?

Recommending against No Game No Life. It's great, but it's full of fanservice aimed toward the the most dedicated of deeply entrenched anime fans; certainly not starter friendly. The story is unfinished, as there's about 6 volumes that haven't been adapted, assuming they get adapted at all. I very highly doubt that it will, considering some of the notoriety/controversy surrounding the author. 12 episodes.

Elfen Lied is violence for the sake of violence. There is a plot, but its claim to fame is the extreme gore (and it should surprise no one, you've seen worse in real movies). I'd only tell you to watch it so people will stop trying to recommend it to you. 12 episodes.

While Bleach is complete (technically), it's a long standing series akin to DBZ and Pokemon. If you want more "shounen" demographic shows to watch, go ahead. There's a couple of guides out there that detail which episodes are purely filler, so you can skip them if you please. 366 episodes + movies.

Steins;Gate is a slice-of-life/mystery/time travel show, and it's great for people who want a lot of genres and ideas put together for someone to figure out what they want from future shows. I think it sucks, but other people are free to disagree. 24 episodes + movie, "season 2" is incoming.

Clannad (CLANNAIDS) and Clannad: After Story is probably the most solid watch out of all of those shows you listed. It's a little formulaic, but it's one of the few shows that has the formula correct: equal parts comedy, drama, strong characters, and a plot. 47 episodes, 2 alternate route episodes; don't watch the movie.

But really, I'd recommend Boku no Pico. 3 episodes full of excellence. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Attack on Titan - Really interesting plot, good characters.
Btooom! - I like the characters, and apparently I'm a sucker for a Battle Royale based on a video game. Quite liked the voice acting.
Fullmetal Alchemist - Took me a while to get into it as it started a bit too slow for my liking, but after about the 5th-6th episode I was invested and interested. I liked the plot and humour and a bunch of the characters.
Gangsta - Interesting premise, interesting characters, and so far, interesting plot.
Nisekoi - Enjoyable plot & characters, funny.
Planetes - Interesting and unique plot, nicely worked themes, funny.
Toradora - Enjoyable plot & characters, funny.

I'm not the kind of guy to spend ages on reviewing things, so explaining why I like things is pretty vague. I tend to like more shows than I dislike. Clannad has so far been excruciatingly boring but I'm told it picks up, so here's to the future episodes (I think I'm on episode 4 or 5 and falling asleep often).

I don't mind violence so long as the plot/characters are interesting (eg. Attack on Titan + Gangsta, both happy to show violence and gore but still great). I dislike super timid characters which is probably my main gripe with Clannad up to the point I've watched so far. You know... characters that are always apologising and always getting upset and always sad anda;siodgh;aietgh urgh I just find it unenjoyable to watch characters like that.

I like fun, confident types. I like a balanced mix of feels and humour. Art isn't hugely important to me, but it can help - I like art styles seen in those I listed above.

Dunno, really, just hard to say D:

    Please, don't do this here.

If you don't know, BoB, Boku no Pico is essentially anime child porn. It's a common troll tactic on the Internet to recommend it to people.

Whoah. Flashbacks. I used to adore Bakemonogatari, but then Nisemonogatari came and trout all over the whole thing to the point that the original is just ruined for me. But I do realize it's just my opinion and I know a lot of people still adored it

Uh oh, I took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up on 4Chan.

If we're monogatari-ing... what is the correct order to watch these in? There's like a million of them!

Oh and BoB - Ore Monogatari is really good if you enjoy funny romance. It actually has nothing to do with the Monogatari series Shauna mentioned, just to make things complicated ^^

There's also Katanagatari, which is also completely unrelated XD

From what I remember, it's Bakemonogatari, then Nisemonogatari, then Nekomonogatari, then Monogatari 2nd series, and I'm not sure if there's more? I know Kizumonogatari was going to be a movie, but is it out already? I was really interested in all this until I got to episode 8 of Nise and just quit ><

Another recommendation I can make is Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. One of the most absurd series I have ever seen. It's just perfect.

    Anyway, Fynn is almost right.

    Bake - Nise - Neko - 2nd Season - Hana - Tsuki - Owari

Despite Nise having that one episode the rest of it is a solid piece of work.

And yes, Ore Monogatari!! is amazing.

What happened to the Kizu movie? is it still coming out?

I understand why some people still like it, but besides that episode what ruined it for me was the pacing. The story of the entirety of Nise would have been done in two or three episodes in Bake, and it was all padded with fanservice that had none of the self-awareness of bake. Plus, 3/4 of the cast did a complete 180 in personality, seemingly to reinforce the fanservice. But hey, that's just my opinion, man

Nothing out yet, sadly. January 8, 2016 supposedly.

But I get the pacing issues, it is very slow. But then I tend to marathon things so I don't notice it nearly as much.

Hmm, it seems you have similar tastes to mine. Don't know many that actually watch Planetes before much of the mainstream stuff.

    I recommend:

    Psycho Pass - smurfing awesome
Cross Game - Really enjoyable sports anime
Fate series (stay night/zero) - Pretty sweet magical combat and stuff
FMA Brotherhood - because it's better than FMA.

I've become really tired of the original series

Rebuild of Evangelion is pretty sweet, though!
