I dunno. I was just listening to a bunch of them and maybe it's my work headphones but they just didn't sound nearly as cool as I remember them. For XIV, I really like the Shiva and Thordan music. I remember loving the Caius fight music in LR, too, and none of them really got me going when I played them on YT just now. Perhaps it's just a case of the Mondays. But they definitely sound so much cooler when I'm in the middle of a fight.

That's because Caius' theme is incredibly dull. Sure, it sounds epic enough, but it has nothing interesting going on in it structure-wise. Naoshi Mizuta is an okay composer that writes memorable of generic melodies, but he really can't compare with Uematsu, Shimomura, Hamauzu, Mitsuda, Sakimoto, etc.

I'd say it served the purpose well enough in the game, at least, because it was one of the first to spring to mind. Different tastes, though.

As for all those other composers, while I love them all, the final boss themes they have come up with don't tend to feel as great when I play them back, either, so...

Well. Aside from One Winged Angel. But that won't fit the thread.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Revo is pretty amazing.

Bravely Default counts as FF, so I'll just put Wicked Flight as my choice here

Speaking of which, Revo's successor to the series, ryō, has given us a pretty bitchin' final battle theme for Bravely Second.
