You know, the only reason you Americans don't call chicken burgers chicken burgers is because the beef industry lobbied to have only beef burgers legally recognised as burgers. Before that, you called chicken burgers chicken burgers, just like us.

Oh, this makes me mad! As if OUR food is the quasi-food and not those pink abominations you Americans like to call hot dogs.

    a "Split".

That's what I and all fellow St Helens (North West England) people call them, because we're weird but its my absolute favourite.

We even made a song about it

In all seriousness, I pretty much use standard names for things.
Flavour has very little to do with it, really. You can have chicken, tomato and "banana" flavoured almost-anything, but the texture and ingredients are what make them different.

They have a similar look, but a totally different texture. Hard to explain though! This shows the internals of a crumpet, and helps show why people like to melt butter (or other things) over the top of them after they toast them up.
That looks like what I would call an Engliah muffin

No! A burger can be any minced or ground meat. A chicken burger would be made of ground chicken, not a whole chicken breast. If you have a chicken breast on a roll, that is a chicken sandwich.

It isn't beef that makes a burger, the the ground consistency. Turkey burger! Pork burger! Veggie burger! A slab or portobello isn't a mushroom burger! It's... Well an abomination for starters, but it's a mushroom sandwich!

    Signature by rubah. I think.

Portabello mushroom is great for a sandwich!

But yes, it's not a burger until it's ground up, and put in a patty. Bread plays a part too, but not as strongly.

    sharky knows!

Also mushrooms are evidence that there is evil in this world. But this oneuahroom soup I forced myself to eat once because I was at a wedding and it actually wasn't bad is evidence that evil can be redeemed!

I'll have you know that Michael Mosley taught me that fact on the BBC documentary Should I Eat Meat?.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I know it's not technically a cake (I used to work in a cake shop!). But since arriving in the UK I have adapted to accommodate them into what counts when saying "I'll bring cakes to work." When someone says this in the UK, they don't just mean a couple of massive cakes, they mean all kinds of things.

Actually, that's un unbaked cat. But if you put it in the oven at 250 degrees for a length of time, it will become a baked cat eventually.

Disclaimer: I do not condone the baking of cats.

Firstly, proof that cats will sit anywhere.

Secondly, glad to hear that you don't condone baking cats.

Thirdly, how do you know the temperature needed to bake a cat if you have never tried it??
