    Default The Retro Playlist

So.......ive held back enough on the subject of music.

As with pretty much everything else, I have a love of old things.

My views on music are very strong, I'm a staunch anti-populist (like something because its good, not because its popular)

Heres my current playlist (on a CD player, NOT an ipod)

Dig Me Out - Sleater Kinney
    EMOH - Lou Barlow
    International Superhits - Greenday
    Hunky Dory - David Bowie
    Poses - Rufus Wainwright
    Want One - Rufus Wainwright
    Pink Moon - Nick Drake
The Kick Inside - Kate Bush
    Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
    Helplessness Blues - Fleet Foxes
Grey Will Fade - Charlotte Hatherley
    Free All Angels - Ash

    Individual songs

Accidentally in Love - Counting Crows
Because the Night - The Patti Smith Group
Dancing the Dark - Bruce Springsteen
Just a Girl - No Doubt
    Spiderwebs - No Doubt
    Going Under - Evanescence
Bring Me to Life - Evanescence
    Horses - Tori Amos
    Little Lies - Fleetwood Mac

and many more, thats how much Im into it, its the best therapy around (way better than any health service)

I'm a fan of most of the songs on the individual song list, but I'm not as familiar with the albums you mentioned so I can't really say.

EDIT: I'm at work, so I'll have to compile a list of older stuff I like when I have time to sit down and think about it.

Tis ok mate. If only I had full access to you tube on this excuse for a phone I would post actual links to this stuff rather than just describing it. I only have my finite time on library computers at the moment.

No I suppose not. If I said that I was exaggerating. There's the odd popular thing I like

I must try putting some active links up myself
Now I've got a better phone
And yes, noticed Paul Simon there. I have a childhood memory of the song You Can Call Me Al, plus its one of the many song lyrics that my dad likes to quote

Not sure what you mean by 'Retro' in this case (Fleet Foxes = Retro??)

I was visiting my dad in Copenhagen last week, and he's got a pretty good collection of random old disco tracks. A lot of the stuff he put on during car journeys etc. rubbed off on me.

The Gibson Brothers - Que Sera Mi Vida
Robey - One Night in Bangkok
    Heatwave - Boogie Nights
and of course: Earth, Wind & Fire - September

I can't remember my retro playlist right now, but it's loaded with music from the 80's and some of 'em from the 70's. There's a rare few from the 90's but unpopular opinion- 90's music wasn't that great.

Hunky Dory is alright, but David Bowie's late 70's work really takes the cake.

Station to Station ( my personal favorite)
    Low
    Heroes

You can pretty much skip Lodger.

When I was a kid I thought the music my dad listened to in the 70's was good old music, now people call the music from when I was a kid old
    ...
