Secrets in FF

Hey,

I wonder how people discover secrets throughout the whole FF series.
I basically know none of them, I always avoided spoilers.

It came to the extent I only want to check the release dates, not even the trailers.

As I walk through a game FF7 for example, i'm pretty sure I walk right next a secret in every screen.
So I find myself mashing the O button in the walls or corners just in case I discover an object to get the finale weapon of x character

Sooo... Is it really possible to know the secrets by yourself without searching for them on the internet / other sources ?

Erm.......yes I imagine with a lot of hard work you could find them all this way but where is the fun in that?

I think most FFs are pretty good about this. You can find most things just by exploring normally, so if you're looking out for all the treasure chests, you should be fine. I think it wasn't until around FFVIII-FFIX-ish until you really started needing a guide for a substantial amount of things.
