    Paul has summoned me!

So quick overview of mods depends on what kind of stuff you want to see.

For example sky block mods such as Agarian Skies 2 adds a questing element (more designed for single player experience imho) and additional challenges such as starting on a 3x3 patch with 1 dirt and 8 saplings to get going with. Agarian skies 2 also incorporates some great mechanical engineering mods and farming mods which will if configured correctly work together.

From a less "magic" more survival based perspective you're talking mods like the Terra Firma Craft mod pack. Which actually works a lot better as a server based game. TFC sets you up in the paleolithic tech era and you work forwards to iron and steel. Some mods will add redstone crafting and machinery back in though with suitably added complexity. This is currently my mod of choice to play because it adds so much.

The streams mod is a good essential one as it adds current to rivers allowing additional challenge and build options. There's other weather and environmental mods I have/know of but need to be at my pc not my phone to discuss.

For sheer badassery the archemedies ships mod should be installed if you have a compatible server set up. This mod allows ships and airships to be built which are rideable around the map.

Base server set up is relatively easy so long as you remember to port forward. Mods I'm finding very complicated to get working right on my own little server but tbh I've stepped back in to pc gaming less than 6 months ago after a decades absence at the least so you'll be fine I am sure
