Let's say Squenix decided to release a re-imagined take of all fourteen Final Fantasy games by remaking the games as different genres. What genres would they be?

True beauty exists in things that last only for a moment.
Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
Final Fantasy I, 3, 5, 9, Old school
Final Fantasy 4, 6, 7, 8, Golden Era
Final Fantasy 2, 10, 11, 12, Modern Era
Final Fantasy XIII, XiV, New Age
Did I do it right?

Cinematic Movie Game.
I could also say Action Adventure but truth be told, I count games like Zelda as "Action Adventure RPG" and not just as "Action Adventure" same for Darksiders, as they heavily remind me of RPGs, just with a focus on a different style of puzzles, therefore I would not really change the genre with what I have in mind but only thee sub class genre.

I honestly want ARPG versions of all of them
And because I know the term causes confusion by ARPG I mean Diablo
LOOT-FEST: FINAL FANTASY EDITION!
I would never stop playing them
FFI: Side scrolling beat-em up, the plot is simple enough, let's make this a four player co-op beat em up to stop Chaos.
FFII: RTS, the game revolves around a war, so why not change up the events a little and actually have the game be about Hilda trying to outmaneuver Emperor Mateus?
FFIV: Visual Novel, very few people like the gameplay anyway and the characters and story are the real draw. The VN approach may even force them to expand on some characters.
FFV: Arcade side scrolling/top down shooter, Bartz and co. ride either Boko, Syldra or a Wind Drake in the game and gets upgraded attack from acquiring job class power ups.
FFVI: Fighting Game, with 14 playable characters and dozen of other NPC characters you could easily make this a fighting game with a VN story mode.
FFVII: Action game, because it's what the game was trying to be anyway, and the remake is kind of heading that way...
FFXII: Turn-Based Tactical RPG, cause it worked for FFTactics.

FFVIII: Romantic Comedy
Or more seriously, a visual novel harem game.
FFIX: Action Adventure.
FFXIII: 'Cinematic" in the vain of Heavy Rain and the like.
Final Fantasy VIII- Grand Theft Auto type game. Zell is in the Hot Dog Mafia and you must go around stealing people's Hot Dogs for points. Zell can sneak around people's houses and the local supermarket and can grab as many Hot Dogs as he desires - though he can't get caught in the act ! You can also drive around in a Hot Dog ! Car and run over Seifer. Squall, Selphie, and Rinoa are also apart of the Hot Dog Mafia and you can hire them for cash to help. Selphie can bomb places down, Rinoa has a furious pack of dogs to chase people down, and Squall has his own car to run people over. You can sleep with Quistis or Irvine for the night to re-gain health if Zell is heavily injured.
The other Final Fantasies can stay the same.
Okay here goes:
FF3: I'm not sure any genre would fix this game .......maybe action then I more easily beat Lightening Dick Garuda
FF4: A mini game within a PS2 sandbox game :-D
FF5: awww do I have to? Okay.....I this would also work as a sandbox action game, a multi generational multiple choice game. I'd like that.
FF6: action adventure
FF7: tough one: I think it would work as a sandbox life sim
FF8: action RPG
FF9: Platform game
FF10: action RPG with a full world map
FF10-2: Platform game
FF12: fully turn based old skool RPG
DofG: turn based old skool RPG
I say make VIII a gambling game,
X into a sports franchise
all the rest make into side scrolling platformers!
I think VII or VIII could have been cool as tactics type games. Some of the SeeD battles in VIII could have been fun and imagine taking on Shinra guards with your whole party in VII! Or being able to fight the weapons or Sephiroth with the entire group.
