As for Ultimecia's speech at the end, Dissidia gives us a clue that it was suppose to be her World of Cardboard speech before the party killed her mid-sentence. It's referenced in Dissidia when she starts a speech against Squall after you beat her and he kills her mid-sentence. Didn't translate too well in 99, if that was the intention though.

Pretty sure people understood very well she was killed mid-sentence while talking pseudo-philosophical crap. People are upset because they want to know what else she had to say about it.
