FFXV's Airship is a Carship?

Thanks to the Final Fantasy XV Uncovered event we know that the game has a car that turns into an airship! Or carship? Cairship? At first we weren't getting an airship. Then we were going to have one in game but no details were shared. Now we're shown that the car the crew drives IS the airship!

We get a batmobile! What are your thoughts on the new flying car? Do you think that this airship will be able to fly across the enormous map Final Fantasy XV will have? What would you call this car+plane hybrid? Share your thoughts!

The only question is: is this the only one you get or is this like The Tiny Bronco and it'll be shot down at some point and you replace it with the Highwind?

It's pretty cool though. I expect you'll have full control over the damn thing as well, like you do the car. And we saw a boat too. A very creative solution to the problem they faced!

There might very well be an 'upgrade' to the carship. That would have precedent. I would also expect a fuel system, to make sure that you can't just abuse the flight system and fly around everywhere. You might end up using more fuel flying than regular driving.

Yeah, I definitely don't think it starts out as a carship. Most of the time it looks like a regular car in the trailers, in that final scene it's all wide and bulgy before the wings even start folding out. I expect it to be a relatively late game thing as per most FF games; just something to help with all the backtracking and optional exploration.

That makes sense. In most Final Fantasy games, especially the later ones, the airship is very much a later game invention. Heck, FFX's airship is pretty much designed to help you backtrack (which in this case, is pretty much dark aeons and Jecht spheres).

The really solved the airship problem in a very elegant way. I'm quite pleased with the route they took with this and that after all these years we are finally getting an actual ariship to fly around the world map in a FF title.

- It is seamless, no loading screen or view change while entering into airship mode. Reminds me of how planes work in GTAV which is a plus

- It integrates neatly into game mechanics already in place with the car and how you tune it up.

- It avoids a common issue previous FF with airships had where after a certain point in the game you end up no longer needing previous vehicles after you got the airship. This avoids the car becoming redundant.

- They also, I'm guessing here, found a neat way to get over the altitude stumbling block that they would have to address had they choosen to go with a more traditional airship. The car doesn't needs to fly that high and the player won't expect it to, so it will feel natural.

Overall, I am looking forward to seeing more footage of it in action. It looks very cool.
