I don't know if I think it is the best, but FF6 has my favorite intro. It sets the stage well overall and that walking through the snow credit roll and music = <3

FFV sets the mood nicely.

FFX also has Otherworld so its 2nd place

FF9 opening is majestic and beautiful. There's flashback teasers, there's airships, flying birds and a big ass Castle with a sword pointing out of it. Doesn't get better than that.

Final Fantasy VI has the best opening sequence for me. It captivates us in the first seconds.

I go with FF7, but by a hair. Strong opening sequences are one of the hallmarks of the FF series, and something that sets them apart from kid with undiscovered potential #427 walking around the village he grew up in.

FFVII's opening is awesome for so many reason. One of the best tracks in the game, lots of action, it gives you some important info on the basic outline of the plot and theme of the game...

Perfect, really.

VIII. It's just the one I automatically think of when I see FF openings and it was probably the first one to really 'wow' me

I voted Final Fantasy 8 but then I remembered that after the flashy battle between Squall and Seifer, hints of Edea and her reign to power and Squall's love for Rinoa- there's Quistis's lessons, which are one of the most dullest things in FF history.

So Final Fantasy 7. The mystery of Aeris, the introduction of Midgar, the rush of the bombing mission, such a good opening !

VIII - spectacular opening with Liberi Fatali. I was hooked on the game instantly.

My take on VIII's opening is that awesome as it is, it seems more like a trailer as opposed to a proper opening for the game.
