Fantasy is a pretty loose definition I guess. If we're going for traditional fantasy, then LOTR and The Princess Bride are the only logical choices. If we're looking at comic book adaptations or stuff with elements of horror/supernatural stuff, then it gets a bit more extensive.

First that came to my mind was Lord of the Rings, yeah. They're completely epic.

LotR and Princess Bride as previously mentioned leapt straight to mind but I also wanna give a nod to Stardust. That movie was a lot of fun.

Yes! Stardust was a great movie and severely underrated.

Don't take this personal, but I hated Labrynth. David Bowie stealing babies, freaky weird. The hoarder lady always creeped me out. The door riddle was fun though.

    Also...

Man I haven't seen Krull in years. Such a good film!

Early appearances in smaller roles for the British acting legends that are Liam Neeson, Robbie Coltrane and Todd Carty from Eastenders!

Seriously, it's worth watching just for those three

I can't recall ever hearing of 'The Princess Bride', but the recommendations in here make me want to watch it soon.

LotR as previously mentioned. I guess I haven't watched much fantasy.

EDIT: I forgot about one of my favourites, 'Big Fish'.

Neverending Story is a great shout! I like it because even though it's a film, it teaches kids (and adults) about the importance of reading.

I'm assuming we're restricting ourselves to live-action as the number of amazing animated fantasy films is huge.

Most of the good ones have already been named, but I also liked MirrorMask and Dragonheart.

Would you count Life of Pi or Bridge to Terabithia as fantasy? If so, them, too, definitely.

Nothing will ever top Lord of the Rings.

I'm also super partial to A Little Princess. It was a favorite movie of mine as a kid and I re-watched it again thinking it probably wouldn't be as good watching it as a grown up, but it was still phenomenal! Held up super well after 20 years.

The Golden Compass movie broke my heart, I loved the book so god damn much. And it just didn't do it any justice.
