Actually the article itself mentions that the game gives you an in-game drop guide for enemies and recipe list, so you'll always know, though I'm sure you'll have to make the enemy drop it first to get the guide info.
I hope that they can make me pleasantly surprised, but they don't exactly have a track record that inspires my confidence.
