Default Who would you rather see on the Iron Throne of these two and why?

Yes, I know we'd all rather have Hodor and Pod and Moon Boy for all I know. Ain't the point of the thread.

Daenerys and Jon have been set up as the main two heroes of the story. Both have overcome adversity in their backgrounds to rise up to a position of leadership, and it seems likely one of them will be sitting on that throne at the end - though you never know with George RR Martin.

It has to be Jon Snow for me. I don't think Daenerys has good leadership skills or motivation to rule. She marches from city to city, announcing a list of increasingly silly titles as to why everyone should bow down to her. It all seems to stem from "I am a Targaryen and I have dragons therefore I am better than you".

Jon meanwhile has leadership thrust upon him and people love him because he is a decent man who commands respect. He does what he has to do and doesn't take pleasure in reckless violence, fully subscribing to Ned's "the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword" mantra.

    Curious to hear your thoughts!

Kinda just want Tommem to stay on there at this point, he's young and naive but at least he's not malicious or particularly scheming. It doesn't suit Jon to be in King's Landing just like it didn't suit Ned, and Daenerys is honestly made up by the sum of the parts that surround her. Need political smarts? She has Tyrion and Varys. Need protection? Grey Worm, Jorah and more. Need a "holy trout I'm screwed, bail me out" plot device? Dragons.

I would prefer Jon since he's a good guy. Daenerys is not that good or even that bright. I don't think either of them will end up on it though. I don't think the kingdom will unite under one King, more like each house is left to itself like the old days before the Targaryens.

I still think they should get married and co-rule

They said in show with Stanis that you can't hold the seven kingdoms without holding the North. I would expect an alliance between the two with Jon taking his spot as the warden of the North and having Daenerys rule the south. I can see everyone's favorite Imp setting that up. However who knows with this show. They could both die next episode for all we know.

    Pretty much this.

I think Jon Snow would be great for the job, but the job wouldn't be great for him. And Dany only plays queen.

I can very much see Jon begrudgingly ruling over the ashes of Westeros once all is said and done.

I'd rather Jon Snow at this point even though it's a certainty he'd hate it.

It's GoT so there has to be a downside somewhere.

Dany is a hero? Sometimes I get flickers of villainy.

While both of them have spent the entire series away from the heart of Westeros, Dany at least has been aiming for seizing the Throne. Jon has been far too caught up in the Night's Watch/Others subplot and at this juncture, I just don't see how he can even be realistically maneuvered into the "race."

Yeah, I'm not sure it should be either though Jon would be the better ruler. He would hate it though.

I reckon Drogon will sit on the iron throne once he's torched everyone.

Jon for sure, Daenerys has too much of the mad king in her. There's a theory that if Rhaegar had won at the Trident he himself would have disposed of his father since he was seriously insane and a threat to the stability of the kingdom.

Who I would personally prefer as a ruler? Jon. Who would probably be more competent in the long run, all things considered? Dany. Don't get me wrong, both have done things that have resulted in their people revolting against them in some way. However, I'd venture to say that Dany will grow into the role and have the right people around her guiding her to the point that she would be a decent ruler. The difference would be that when the going gets tough, I can see Jon getting murdered (again) or walking away and overall just not wanting to be there. Dany, however, I reckon would stick it out. I also believe she'll do a lot better in Westeros than she has in the places she has ruled so far, because honestly I think Jon would have sucked at figuring out Mereen just as much as Dany has.
