My only real issue with the video was the constant "made by Banks" nonsense going on, especially when he destroys the barrel and the shrapnel spells his name. Little excessive, and a proper closing credit would have sufficed.

I just went in expecting something decently made that captured the spirit of the game. I got none of that. It wasn't very well shot, animated, acted, or anything really. Which is impressive given how simple the source material is.

And we even get the obligatory first person gopro view because everything needs to have that these days. Even though it was even less interesting than the other bits.

Did Bowser ever kidnap Paulina, though?

Not to my knowledge, but I can forgive it since it was genuinely the only part of the film I found mildly interesting.
