It goes without saying that FF1 is by far the superior FF. Every other one is just re-hashing what was started in FF1. You know it.
Also, the Black Belt/Master is by far the superior class in FF1. Anyone who thinks otherwise can suck it. Suck it like the dolphins.

FF2 is hard, but if you know how you level up your stats, it's pretty EASY!!!!
Story of 1 and 2 is OK, Story of 3 and 4 is good!

I mean have you played FF1 .........I couldn't play for more than 2 hours and I like the old Final Fantasy's....
Its a good thing that square didn't keep the FF2 lvling system because once you understand it its way too easy to Max out characters HP and MP......

FF4 was amazing too, FF1 is enjoyable at best, and FF2 is kinda bleh. So yeah. FF3.

While FF1 is kewl and all, FF4 has the grand, epic, sweeping story and the archetypal character development. Gameplay is cool, but I like story almost as much, and FF4’s story is like five times more complex than FF1’s. Plus, though FF1 has “Matoya’s Cavern,” FF4 has a better version of “Prologue,” a better version of “The Prelude,” and all those songs that Final Fantasy doesn’t have and that I don’t feel like listing right now. So… yeah. Based purely on gameplay, I’d probably say FF1, but I don’t enjoy RPGs just because of gameplay. *dunno*

After a long and agonizing debate ( 3 or 4? 3 or 4? 3 OR 4?! ) I finally decided to vote for FF4, as the game has captivated me ever since I first played it as "FF2" on my SNES all those years ago. The storyline was revolutionary for it's time, the graphics were incredible ( again, for the time ), the characters were deep and interesting - even with the horrible, HORRIBLE "transration". It was light years ahead of any other RPG released in America at the time, and it's still my favorite. Especially now that I have Hardtype Chronicles and I can enjoy the game to the fullest.

Sigh. What profanity? I quoted Sephex's post from Eyes on Each Other from about a year ago, and any "profanity" in his post was either **** or ***** anyway. Whatever. And you wonder why forum traffic is way down.
FF4 had the strongest storyline IMO. The characters were just so deep compared to many other RPGs.
(hell look at that beloved CT, there is little character development or depth, but I won't go into that...)
These games look shortchanged by being grouped on one forum on one hand, but on the other it's great having FFIV and FFI discussions on the same forum. To me, the first four games are the best FFs

FFII is cool, but I think the "non-level"system is really challenging, but I like 1,3 and 4 more than 2.
The FF2Story is very much better than FF1Story!
In my Opinion, FF1-8 are the best games I ever played!!!!
But...FF3 Rulz!!!!!!!...

You might be right, kupo. I started it recently, and it is very interesting. Love the new jobs (especially the Scholar, instead of studying books, he slaps people with them. How cool is that?).
On the other hand, FFII rules when it comes to plot and difficulty. FFIII is quite easy so far.
Perhaps I'll change my vote once I finished this game. I still have to try FFIV, kupo. :mog:

I'm a Roma, born in East Germany, live in Amsterdam (Holland). That's why I haven't got a clue about the whole American version/Japanese version discussion. No game console ever got released where I grew up. I have to catch up with most FFs using emulators and roms.

But lets not forget that FFI was the stepping stone to the whole thing, so its the best by default
Wow I'm very suprised how many people like FF4 the best. It was alright I guess, but you switched characters so much that I just got sick of it and stopped playing it. I mean I would level up my party and then I'd have a totally new one. I think FF4 is the worst of these four games. FF1 is by far the best game in the world. It has the best story. Plus it also gives you the ability the pick your team at the beginning. This gives great replay value.
