Dancing Chocobo E3 2016: Final Fantasy XV Titan Boss Demo

Final Fantasy XV made an appearance at this year's Microsoft press conference today and the demonstration this time around is a boss fight against the summon Titan. This demo honestly made the game look very rough. The battle looked negatively chaotic with camera jump and angles that obscured your vision, not to mention the stream repeatedly took third person shots of the gameplay. When Noctis was clearly visible on screen, Ignus, and the others weren't. There wasn't indication of damage infliction either. This demo was not impressive and hopefully Square Enix has something better to show for the game this week.

Did we even watch the same demo?

The early part of the scene is Noctis on his own, the quest objective is for "Noctis to survive until his comrades show up," which they do throughout the course of the encounter (starting at 1:22). Also you can see Noctis taking damage everytime Matt failed at dodge rolling Titan's attacks (for example at 1:06-1:08, 1:30 etc). At 2:42 we even see control switching to input a command for Gladio when the quest objective updates to "Destroy Titan's Arm."

All in all we saw, the dodge rolling in action, companion commands, Blizzara and a QTE - I think it was a pretty good demo marred only by the show director constantly panning to crowd shots.

I agree that the in-game camera was a bit finnicky at times though, I suspect it's due to being locked onto Titan instead of free. The Iron Giant encounter in the Platinum Demo had a similar problem.

That guy....man that guy is terrible at the game. I watched it when it happened live and I felt nothing but second hand embarrassment.

Still it did look cool and I have to give SE credit for actually having their guy get up there and play the game live, instead of pre-recording it and having them stand up there with a controller in their hand and pretend to play the game, like everyone else does.

Yeah it seemed okay. I will concur with the other opinions in this thread that a good camera is pretty damn essential for a game like this. If it is too finicky, hard to control and/or gets in the way, that'll really detract from the gameplay and combat.

I couldn't resist the words 'Titan Boss'. That actually looked cool. I would hate playing this boss fight, though. I wouldn't be much better than the guy on stage, just I'd be hurling profanities at the screen and concurring Noc's opening line.

I was going to mention that, but I didn't want to be mean.

To be fair, that guy's probably only played, at best, a few hours of the game, and is expected to convincingly defeat what looks like a difficult, complex multi-stage boss. In front of an audience. Live.

    Damn straight he'd be ropey!

Oh, god. I wouldn't even feel confident doing that if I had a whole week to play the game. Let alone a few hours.

Thank-you, he would've been so incredibly nervous, not to mention the gaming community can be pretty harsh.

Was he playing on Wait Mode? I have a feeling that'll be near mandatory.

I didn't see it live from E3 but the PlayStation Access one on YouTube looked awesome!
