I'm certain Canoe is cheating and not using his natural voice. Or he's doing some audio postprocessing!
Even after learning about the actual meaning on Uhlan (which i knew before listening to this podcast!), I still like to imagine some brainstorming session among the dev team and some guy says "ok so we need a name for this class that's using a lance, any ideas?", then another guy is like "Uh, lan..." and the first guy immediately interrupts him and shouts "GREAT let's go with that."
