Started the game with a Pikachu. Caught a Vulpix. It crashed, but saved the catch. Caught a Rattata. It crashed again, and my battery ran out of power, so I don't know if it saved or not.
Fun walking companion, but if I need cell data to use it, I don't know if I'm going to keep going. It's definitely overtaxing my phone at this point.
T-Mobile is exempting Pokemon Go from data plans (aka giving you unlimited Pokemon Go aside from whatever data you use otherwise) like they do with Pandora or whatever. But you have to opt in with their app thing next Tuesday. Obviously T-Mobile may not be your provider but it seemed as good a place as any to mention it.
It also barely uses any data last I checked if you aren't with T-Mobile!
To save battery turn on battery saver in settings. To use it you have to hold your phone upside down.
Hatched a horsea and a vulpix today. Also found 3 clefairy hanging out together so I caught them all
Oh, God, no! The last thing that needs to be encouraged is the limitations that the old game systems provided. They are awful. Gotta catch 'em all, not trade them all. Also, I think it would be bizarre to have all these opposing teams being actively encouraged to trade with each other instead of with their own team members.
So I downloaded it yesterday and there is a Pokéstop I can access from my flat. Pretty happy with that. Drowzee and Jynx seem to be flavour of the day in Edinburgh. I've also managed to grab Charmander (starter), Caterpie, Pidgey, Rattata, Nidoran (F), Nidoran (M), Clefairy, Zubat, Oddish, Paras, Bellsprout, Gastly, Hypno, Krabby and Horsea. I've seen shadows for a bunch more, including Squirtle, Weedle, Spearow, Pidgeotto, Raticate, Shellder, Koffing, Seadra, Staryu, Goldeen, Magikarp and what I think was either Dratini, Lapras or something like them.
All this so far done without going out of the flat to catch any. I also discovered that due to traffic in the city, I'll be hatching eggs in decent time because the tram / buses slow down to a crawl that seems to count as me walking. Finally, my commute is working for me. Oh, and there are buttloads of Pokéstops on the way, too, so that's nice.
The nearest gym to me is juuuuust out of my flat's reach, which is annoying, but oh well. I'd have to go around and stand awkwardly outside an old bar full of boozers and smokers. Not sure I wanna linger there. Oh well.
Work has been dead so far. Everything is three prints away.

GO AWAY RATTATTA WEEDLE AND PIDGEY
I wish I got more of those ones! I have a whole one Rattatta and one Peegee so far. I have seen Weedle so often in the bottom right but never actually seen him pop in my zone. So annoying.
Also, for those unaware, you should start updating pokecrew.com so people can start locating the various Pokémon in your area. The more people that use it, the better. It keeps saying error whenever I submit any sightings but it still seems to record them and I've already spotted some decent locations to farm some Pokémon I haven't seen so far.

We've played so much my local newspaper wants to interview us (BF and I) as well as a few other higher leveled people.
I've... made it, mom?
Don't forget to mention 'Karping'
So yesterday I was sitting in my living room and then suddenly darted outside, running up and down the street because there was a Snorlax nearby. Caught him at the end of my block and he's by far my strongest pokemon. My wife saw me running around through the curtains and thought it was some crazy man. I guess it was.
