Keep all your pidgeys you catch! When you get to a higher level you get awarded a "lucky egg". It gives you boosted XP for 30 mins. Pidgeys only cost 12 Pidgey candy to evolve. Them, Weedles, and Caterpies are the cheapest to evolve.

Hit lucky egg > Evolve tons of pidgeys > get 1000 xp for each evolution > power level! > Profit!

Game is super addicting and a great excuse to walk around and explore the world. I'm currently level 7 and have 24 types and a couple evolutions. I work in a down town area and there's always a ton of stuff, but too many damn pidgeys and rattatas. I hear the pokemon somewhat follow the type of location (water type by water) so am I getting all the dirty pokemon because I'm in a city? Though, by my house there seems to be a population of eevees.

Dirty pokemon
Common pokemon, like pidgey and rattata, are found in cities, because people commonly live in urban areas. I've only found one Eevee in a shady alleyway in South St. Louis so far.

People are saying there are 151 pokemon which would include those two! I would assume catching Mew would be extremely hard.

So far the rarest thing I got is a Pinsir.

From what I heard, only 146 are actually in game at the moment. The rest being saved for legendary "events" by Niantic and The Pokemon Company.

Are there shinies? Or not yet because it's only Gen 1?

I'm guessing the five saved would be the three legendary birds, mewtwo, and mew?

I haven't seen any shinies.

I begrudgingly downloaded it because why not (I wasn't a fan when pokemon first hit the US or even became huge, I was a bit older and "too cool" for pokemans) and I'm having more fun with it than I thought I would! It makes park walks more interesting and its kind of astonishing to see so many people walking around. I wonder if you're more likely to find ghost types at graveyards....there's one not too far from my apartment.

I installed this for a giggle the other day seeing as I walk to work and back twice a day. That feel when you're about to catch a Pigeot but it requires you to basically hold your phone up to a car window while the owner is sitting inside wondering what the hell you're doing.

Tried it but I wasn't a huge fan. I already go out for walks every day and I don't like taking my phone or wallet or anything, so I already am not taking full advantage of it.

This is such a massive pet peeve of mine. If I get a game, I want to have the entire game open to me at all times. This event lockout nonsense is what makes me avoid buying Pokémon games in the first place.

Still, thankfully, this game is free (right?) so I'll undoubtedly be catching all the Pokémon that are... well... in my flat.
