I also wanted to mention, now that I'm replaying Black, that Gen V probably has the best overall set of gym leaders to date due to them all having a role in the story. They're actual fleshed out characters, more in line with the manga interpretations than any of the games or anime, really, making me actually remember every single one of them on more than just design and Pokemon (though Lenora's Watchog is certainly a memorable little headache). By contrast, I can't even remember the names of the Gen VI leaders, or what half of them look like! Here's hoping Gen VII goes back to more interesting characters for leaders.

I've only finished Red and I like how Lt Surge could be interpreted as Lightning Surge. Other than that I don't really have a preference of gym leaders

Valerie from Lavarre gym! Best town (rainy, autumn, haunted storybook town???), with cutest fashion. She wears the CUTEST THING AND HER GYM IS LITERALLY A DOLLHOUSE AND THEY TYPING IS FAIRY.

Candice. Clay and rasher wake are my favourites.Also cilan chile and cress dont have a role in black/white. But its ok to forget them since they are easily the most wasted gym leaders ever.
not a good gym leader really but... Marlon in BW2 REALLY reminds me of Fynn
also. cos i just beat him, i think he is like the only npc who moves offscreen but you can move up and still see him swimming away rather than instantly dissapearing.
however he ruins his credit by swimming north and coming from the south below the gym....
