Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear

Anyone here's played it? I'm near the end of my Enhanced Edition playthrough and figured it might be fun to jump into this before II since it's an interquel, though after the FFIV interlude I'm kind of worried. So what do you guys who've played it think about it?

And yes, I know about that stupid controversy and it's been beaten to death, so please let's not devote the topic to that. This thread is for general thoughts, tips, etc. for the expansion. Which of the new or returning characters are cool and which aren't (I actually wanna keep Dorn and Edwin from my current party and take Corwin, Glint and Voghiln to try out the new characters, but I have no idea if they're useful or not!

One final request - please mark any spoilers. I know the expansion basically has a foregone conclusion, but it'd be nice to go into it without crucial plot details.
