This time with the final battle against Maririsu (Maliris/Marilith, formerly known in other FFs as the fire elemental ruler).

That battle was dope af!
This was actually pretty disappointing to me. Considering how good the previous episodes were with the character development, it's a shame this one didn't really go there too much. Still good. Just expected something more from a finale. Then again, maybe it's good that they left more of that for the game proper.
That was smurfing awesome. I'm like, dare I say, pumped to continue the story in the actual game. All these other episodes were flashbacks and the present story was only a few minutes. I really enjoyed this one's flashback and main story being cohesive. Get some sleep Tabata on Nov 29! lol
So was that Noctis's mother?
Doubt it. Probably a servant of sons kind. If it was the mother, then that's really lousy writing. Notice that no one even mentions her death, let alone mourns her.
Noctis was most likely so vehement in his pursuit of Marilith because he was (SPOILER)coping with Regis' death as that creature was threatening Noctis in the past and his father saved him. So I understand that he wanted to show his father, who's watching over him, that he can handle it on his own now. But it's still hurtful for him to think that as he's still grieving.
I hope the Ignis wants to bake the right thing for Noctis is at least a side quest.
And if that was Noct's mother and he did not shout "Okaa-san! Okaa-san!"when she presumably died from that sword strike (or even if she didn't) then yes, it is bad writing. I doubt that.
(SPOILER)I thought the king is still alive in the game.
(SPOILER)pretty sure he dies shortly after the beginning and that Noctis finds out at the same time he finds out Insomnia is taken by the empire. And the anime is set after that.
This episode paired nicely with the first one to bookend the series. By itself it didn't tell an amazing story, but it added nicely to what we've already seen. I like the ties to Kingsglaive (Noctis' childhood injury/illness), and to the Platinum demo (Regis telling stories to Noctis while he recovered, and that adorkable Carbuncle figurine).
(SPOILER)Regis gets killed in Kingsglaive
True beauty exists in things that last only for a moment.
Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
