Sure, the general consensus is that the correct pronunciation is TEE-DUS but which do you honestly think sounds better?

TIE-DUS - Which sounds to me like a man who came in on the tide and is generally awesome or...

TEE-DUS - Which to me just sounds like it could be slang for a small penis.

    What do you think?

Tiedus sounds like someone tried to pronounce tie dye but tripped and bit their tongue. Which makes it double lame because the 90s need to die already, dammit!

    I think Taiduhs sounds better.

However I also think Siegfried is a cooler name than Tidus and I still won't call him Siegfried.

after years of reading names like Tifa, Yuffie, Selphie the pronunciation of the ee for i seemed natural and made perfect sense... naturally the ee sounds better to me because it's what i'm used to from pronouncing Japanese names with an i in them that way for so long... of course when people pronounce it Tie it makes me think of the comic Christopher Titus and he's too cynical to associate with Tidus' sunny personality...

    ?
This one, this one so much. Because the game is water themed, and Sin and things.

I'd actually have my vote change. I think Tie-dus sounds better, but it's Tee-dus. I can't believe people still cry about this. xD

    Pfft.

It does kinda fascinate me though how people come up with their own connections as to why it should be 'tie' (tide theme) and reject official reasons for it (sun/moon theme). Death of the Author in full swing in a way, isn't it.

Deaf for what? Made up fan crap that has no authority? I agree Tiedus sounds good, even I sad the "tide" thing years ago but that's it. It has no value when it comes to the truth about what the name is pronounced as. If someone just likes it better that is perfectly fine but then don't say "deaf".

Dissidia Duodecim. Also the FFX/X-2 HD Audio Drama, not that I blame you for forgetting about that.

Literally the only time AFAIK Tidus was pronounced "Tie-dus" in an official game was Kingdom Hearts 2. Every other time, including interviews and any other material, it was "Tee-dus".
