Default EoFF Summon Tournament: Guardian Bracket R1

Time for the final bracket in Round One of the tournament.

    Our fighters today are...

    Maduin_-_FF6_iOS.png
    Maduin
SE has a hard time deciding if it's Maduin or Madeen but he's become a staple of the series in his own way. Debuting in FFVI as the Esper who fathered Terra, he also taught the -ara level elemental spells and dealt some nice non-elemental damage in Chaos Wave. He reappeared in a very different form in FFIX in the guise of Mog before the little fella transformed into her true Eidolon form of Madeen. This version popped up again as a Holy Summon for the Viera summoners in FFTactics Advance. His former form has also appeared again in Record Keeper and FF Legends for mobile.

    VS.

    FFX_-_Anima_Artwork.jpg
    Anima
Debuting in FFX as the Aeon for the despot Seymour Guado. Yuna can obtain her by obtaining the hidden item within each Temple of the Fayeth and then returning to Baaj Temple and defeating Geosguano there. She is not only one of the most powerful summons in the game, she will also listen to you unlike Yojimbo and the Magus Sisters. She made another appearance in XIII as the fal'Cie from Pulse that branded the party, and she's made several appearances through most of the mobile titles SE has released.

    our next round is...

    Mateus_render.png
    Mateus the Corrupt
An esper who watched over the underworld. He committed the sin of avarice and grew corrupt. He captured an Ice Goddess and used her as a shield to challenge the gods but fell to their might. Mateus debuted in FFTactics Advance as the Totema of the Humes. Serving as the stand-in for Shiva, Mateus debuted as a summon in the main series in FFXII. His name is a reference to The Emperor from FFII who had the name Mateus in the game's novelization. Yes, the armor piece is actually the real Mateus and the girl is the unfortunate ice goddess.

    VS.

    Hecatoncheir_Enemy_FFXIII.png
    Hecatoncheir
Debuting as a boss in FFIII who guarded the Earth Crystal, he finally made the leap to summon in FFXIII as the Eidolon of Vanille. He is an earth elemental summon that takes Titan's role for the game and transforms into an armored beast that evokes the Magitek Armor of VI, and Rikku's Machina Maw Dressphere. He appears before Vanille in her time of crisis when she tells Fang the truth about Ragnarok.

    Our next round is...

    FFVII-Kjata.png
    Kujata
Debuting in VII, he was found in the Sleeping Forest when the pary went after Aerith in the City of the Ancients. He reappeared in XIII as a the power source for a factory in Cocoon who branded the Dahj Katzroy andstarted all of Sahz's problems. He was downgraded to a monster in FFXIV where he's the central villain in the Maurader class quest; being a beast that must be slain for the sake of a boy and his grandfather.

    VS.

    XII_zeromus_render.png
    Zeromus the Condemner
An Esper created by the god to pass judgement on the wicked, Zeromus eventually grew to love punishing more than upholding the law and decided to condemn the gods to death itself which got him struck down for his hubris. His name, design, and special attack Big Bang are all shout outs to the final boss of FFIV. his appearance is based on an odd compsite of his normal form and the sprite used in the Easy Mode version of the game. His Big Bang attack is actually the strongest attack in the game.

    and our final round is...

    Minimogdance.jpg
    MiniMog
A psuedo Guardian Force in VIII, MiniMog can only be obtained with the help of a PocketStation, playing the PC version that has PocketStation or hacking him into the game. Using the Mog Amulet obtained by meeting him in Chocbo World, the player can teach a GF the MiniMog command that summons him in battle where he'll heal all the GFs for 1500 HP. In truth, Mog's first time as a summon is in FFTactics where he's a simple healing spell and one of the first summons players will obtain/encounter.

    VS.

    moomba-8.jpg
    Moomba
Pretty much the same deal as the MiniMog in terms of how to obtain though unlike MiniMog, the Friendship item is a consumable item you'll have to obtain a few from in Chocobo World. Moomba will use the MoombaMoomba attack where it will either reduce an enemy whose HP is below 9999hp to 1hp or if the enemy has more HP than 10,000, it will do a guarantee 9999hp.

Minimog is one evil bastard. Poor Moomba wouldn't stand a chance.

My beloved Maduin, shame he had to go up against a popular summon.

I voted Anima. I love the lore of Anima in FFX and it's design blew me away in that first battle with Seymour when you see the WHOLE thing. One of the best FF summon moments ever imo.
