We have a Labrador who is getting on in years (10, this past Sept.). His grandfather (on both sides) is the most awarded show lab in history. Didn't know that when I picked him up at 8 weeks old. He was our eldest son's 3'rd birthday present. He's sired a single liter, my mother has his "pick of the liter" daughter. "English" block head and thicker build), not "American". Looks like a Golden Rottweiler.

We had a female Maltese. She was 6, from the top Maltese breeder/shower for 12 years straight. Beautiful dog and so loving. I affectionately/joking called her "Bird Food". Eagles and falcons would often circle our house waiting for an opportunity, but she always stayed close to her man (Lab). Several months ago she disappeared during the night. She was in the back when our son fed them at 10:30pm. No way for her to get out, but even if she did, she would always go straight to the front door and alert us. I think that she was picked up by an owl (only 2lbs). She had a fresh "buzz" cut, so she didn't look nearly as big as she would have with hair. We are/were devastated.

We have a female Husky now. Not a "replacement", my sister in law rescued her from a car during a 100*F day, but wan't able to locate the owner (parking lot, small shopping center). She's about 12 weeks old (found in the car at 5 weeks, tiny).
