That terrible shipping thread again

Is this just pairings we like that aren't official, or are official pairings part of this too? I'll just assume the former.

Romancing SaGa 3:

The Professor and Duke Zweig

Not much is directly said in the game about it, but it is super obvious these two have something going on. God help that kingdom if they ever do hook up though, seeing that she's already terrorized the area with weaponized rats and drag racers without living in the palace.

Star Ocean:

Fayt and Maria



The game heavily implies the Fayt/Sophia pairing, but I never liked it much -- both due to my distaste for Sophia and general belief that these two work together much better. Team blue hair fo' lyfe! >_< /

Kliff and Mirage also deserve mention here, though not enough time is spent on interactions between the two.

There's also Roddick and Ilia in SO 1 that I really liked as a couple, but that's one that is directly pulled apart with Ilia telling him things might have been different if he had been born on Earth. Earth chicks don't dig the tail, poor fellow. ; -;

Warsong:

Garret/Sabra (or, Redin/Narm, if you are one of those people)

While the game really (and I mean REALLY) wants you to buy the Garret/Mina romance, I always preferred the Sabra/Garret one. They've known each other for a longer period of time, both survive the attack on castle at the start of the game, and dragon riders are waaaaay more awesome than priests. I mean, that priest can become a silly overpowered 'ranger' (see also: ninja), but still. Sadly, I don't think there is anything in the game that really supports the idea if there being romantic ties in this couple, but ah dun care! >_<

Zelda:

Link / Midna



Midna, whyyyyyyy~

Seriously, how pissed would she be if Link went all Lunar 2 on her. This needs to happen.

Fire Emblem:

Hector / Lyndis



Lyndis has no mention in Binding Blade, so it is impossible to know if this pairing is official, but I'm fairly sure it is not (I'm thinking Lyn + Rath is the more likely pairing) though it really should be. You can pair them together in Blazing Sword, which I always do, and I love how they grow together during their interactions, both general story and support. Favorite FE couple! >_< / It is, however, very closely followed by . . .

Eliwood / Ninian



This one is super cheatsy, as it is so close to official that the only things running contrary to it are Roy's apparent lack of dragon blood (which would have been AWESOME by the way. Binding Blade and Dragonstone? yuuuus. >: D), and Eliwood's ability to marry two other people -- one of whom is Lyn, which is pure blasphemy. Much like playing with the Lyn and Hector romance in mind, this one works really well via both story and support conversations, and they come together quite nicely. There's also a real bittersweet twist to the romance that I love, though the ending, depending on your point of view, completely ruins it, but bleh, whatever. Romance is still 5/5, would marry them again.

Eirika / Ephraim

Yep. I did it. This is a thing that is happening now. I used to pair Eirika and Seth, but then someone made the comment to me that Eirika only had eyes for her brother and I'll be damned if I don't agree with their assessment. Sucks for Renais, though.

I'll probably think of others later.

Sonic

Sonic / SallyI've never particularly liked the Sonic Amy pairing Sega seems content to poke at -- Amy feels kind of like a creepy stalker sometimes, and I just . . . bleh. Sally on the other hand, while only appearing in a single official Sonic game that I'm aware of (Spinball), is a character from the comics / cartoon with more backbone and definition to her, and I think her (generally) firm attitude pairs well with Sonic's overall free nature. Sadly, although I'm fairly certain Sega does actually own the character, they've shown no real interest in implementing her in the main game universe, making this pairing another one leaning heavily on the cheatsy side of things.
