    Default The Positive Gaming Thread

I thought it'd be fun to have a thread where we can just gush about games. No specific rules on how or why, it can be a one-liner that made you grin or a whole game that's given you hours of joy. Just talk about stuff in games that has made you happy or impressed you! Don't hate on other people or their games, but please do chat and dig deeper into what people say, hopefully we can all find more fun things to enjoy!

I'll start by saying that I just really love the music in Planet Coaster. It's so happy, upbeat, it makes me smile to listen to, and it just does a great job of combining the excitement of theme parks and the chill nature of a little bonsai sim.

Touhou has such great music. Even games I don't really like, I feel like forgiving everything when I listen to their OSTs. Prime example being Undefined Fantastic Object, my least favorite game in the series, which has bulltrout deaths, a terrible resource collecting system and overall just unsatisfying challenges... but still has this final stage theme followed by this final boss theme. It's absolutely incredible.

I adore the Shin Megami Tensei for many reasons, but one of the most important is that you can tell so much research has gone into the various demons from myth and religion a around the world. The little details in their designs as well how much many quests involving them parallel their myths are just amazing. Few things give me so much satisfaction.

Danganronpa's ambiance is pretty top drawer. They really nail it

Also, Chrono Cross is a wonderfully unique game that really does a terrific job putting the entirety of Trigger on its head and deserves so much more love.

I have never played this "groom across", but I am saving it before you edit it to "Chrono Cross".

But the original is far superior.

    Stupid phone

I love both games about equally but for totally different reasons. Trigger is a fun romp with a tight narrative, while Cross crafts a great, dark story and open-ended gameplay.

It's kinda terrible that I genuinely thought 'groom across' was a game.

I really like this thread idea!

It's been exactly seven years since I started my first game on FF IV (I know I'm weird I remember things like that haha). It was the first main FF I ever played. I started it just before I turned twelve, and I was hooked. I remember laying on my bed playing it on the Gameboy for most of that summer, while my sister listened to the radio. Most of the popular songs from 2010 now remind me of level grinding for the final boss and going through the Lunar Trials (I realized later that I was waaay over leveled for the final boss) . For awhile after, all the RPGs I played paled in comparison. A mixture of nostalgia, great characters and good straightforward story is the reason IV is my favorite FF.

Magic: the Gathering is now the only game I play and it's amazing. It ticks all the boxes I want in a game; it's incredibly deep, strategic, and has amazing worldbuilding and artwork.

For a DLC Expansion, The Old Hunter's is both robust and rather gripping. Thematically, it's similar to Artorias of the Abyss DLC for Dark Souls, in that the main story is finally meeting key figures in the stories lore who are all mostly tragic figures. The Old Hunter's also doubles as a bit of an explanation of the background of the story as well since the DLC begins with the ironic hell of the Hunter's Nightmare, jumps to a glimpse of the monstrous experiments the Choir and Healing Church were doing in Yharnam and finally the dark truth of how the Old Blood was discovered in the Fishing Hamlet. There is definitely a better frame for a story in this DLC than Dark Souls and I like that we got to meet several prominent figures who shaped the world of Bloodborne but had already died by the time the story begins. Not to mention the revelation about the Doll in the Hunter's Dream...

That at picture made me smile big time. Just look at Crono's face.

Still playing a modded out Skyrim. Having a blast trying a different build then usual.

Also Pike, Dragon Age II is so underrated due to reused maps, yet I loved Hawke and his story. It is the strongest in the series in my opinion. However I do miss exploring the Deep Roads in Origins.
