Right off the bat I'd say Game of Thrones, Buffy, Evangelion, Noir, Spice and Wolf.

Now that think about it, I forgot to mention Texhnolyze and Legend of Galactic Heroes (first opening - Skies of Love)

The 6 year old in me is inclined to mention 1980s UK Saturday morning show "Going Live", as it's the only thing that has ever, before or after, made me get up at stupid-o-clock (7 I think?) on a Saturday morning just to catch it. It was just cool to me at the time, the whole "we're making a television programme and broadcasting it!" meta theme it had going, which sprawled into an entire imaginary TV station I was running in my head as a child.
I mean it probably seems pretty rubbish now, but as a 6 year old this was the coolest thing on the planet.

    Otherwise...
    • I'm one of those very weird people who actually liked the opening to Star Trek: Enterprise (most fans HATED it), and if anything, it's possibly my favourite of the Trek openings
    • Many a Japanese animation.... Naruto had some good ones, Fullmetal Alchemist and Pokemon had some good ones. Basically "anime tier" is a whole other league of opening.

There was nothing particularly special about the LOST opening for me... besides the fact that IT WAS ANOTHER EPISODE OF LOST AIRING.

Good topic! I love a good opening sequence. Iron Fist's opening sequence is a lesson in how not to do one, in my opinion. So vapid. So much generic techno. So boring.

I'm trying to remember my favourites. Of the shows I've seen recently, Luke Cage's is definitely up there. Love the soul influence.

I like all the K-On! openings so I don't judge you

But for me the original has moe nostalgia and it's easier to sing along to
Editors note: that was a genuine typo for 'more' that I intended to correct but upon re-reading it it was too perfect, so I left it in

Obv GoT was going to be way up there. And Freya mentioned Westworld, and someone else mentioned Jessica Jones but they didn't share them. So here are some of my top ones:

And a very new show, but goddamn, does it have a gorgeous opening:

Some of my favorites are the openings to Batman: The Animated Series (which acts as a short story of its own!), DuckTales (with one of the catchiest melodies ever) and Alfred J. Kwak (which is both trippy but also heartwarming at the same time with an equally memorable melody to boot which sets the tone of the show perfectly). I guess I could also add the intros to Cowboy Bebop and Wolf's Rain into the list as well as both are atmospheric in different ways with great visuals.
How I met your mother, Donald Duck's parents style! Love at first temper tantrum!
