Yes there was. It was called the Hexer in English. The less said about it, the better.
And no, it has to be filmed in Suwalsczyzna
As soon as I saw this I knew Fynn would be screaming.
I work for the publisher of the original novels. Tie-in edition(s) ahoy!
"Excuse me Miss, do you like pineapple?"
I'm so watching this!!
(SPOILER)Never played the games though....

Currently playing: Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories (PS3)
Favourite FF games: FFVI; FFXII
(SPOILER)Tip: read the books first
This is exciting news!
The lore of the Witcher verse is quite intriguing based on the books and the games, so having another take at a TV series is definitely welcome. The producers' comments give me hope that we'll indeed see the grey morality of the stories translated to TV as it would be a shame if all the series focused on was dumbing down the messages and ramping up gore and nudity without understanding the nuances of what, if any, separates monsters from men. The actor they need for Geralt has to be convincing in many ways as he has to sell the gruff edge and hidden sentimentality of the character, and the show will ultimately rise or fall depending on his portrayal of the character.
How I met your mother, Donald Duck's parents style! Love at first temper tantrum!
