    Default Ardyn question (spoilers)

So, if Ardyn wanted to die so much, then why didn't he just let Noctis win the final battle with him? lol

His desire to have true death is countered by his desire to get revenge on the royal family as well. He's been more or less corrupted by the Star Scourge for so long that he pretty much would get his way either way. If Noctis kills him for good, he can finally have true death, if he killed Noctis and broke the prophecy, he can get his revenge on the Gods of Eos by destroying the world.

Also not every part of Ardyn wanted to die - just having the desire to no longer be cursed to live forever does not mean you need or want to die immediately in second 1 - but fulfill his desire of vengeance. Otherwise he would not have resisted too much, even when he was done for already, considering that Noctis at this point also was already dead... But I guess, scrolling up the posts, this "being free from his curse and get revenge on the traitors" could also be pretty much worded as what Kanno said in a way. In reality this is just one of the new things that fans read up on the internet and then it spreads via youtube because it sounds cool while ignoring half of what is even shown. Just like what happened with Nier 2 where I wonder why so many people just believe the words of a few fan interpretations when the story flat out shows different and is not consistent with what they say.

So yes, Ardyn wanted to be free. Ardyn wanted to have his revenge. But things are not always that easy. And I would certainly not say that Ardyn "won", as others say. Even a man full of vengeful thoughts and the desire to be free does look different than what he did look like when he witnesses his own last seconds.
