Chocobo racing. They ruined something special from FFVII in a massive way.

Lightning Minigame. Chocobo Racing was a pain and nowhere near as fun as FFVII's, admittedly. But Lightning took hours per attempt, and one screw up would start you all over (you could actually mess up and still win the Chocobo race).
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. You people need to play VIII again. Quistis halting a mission is so dumb.
Lightning Dodge is more tedious than Chocobo racing. So it gets my vote. Waste of time if you mess up.

Retribution!
I'll have to check out Final Fantasy X Chocobo Racing, to see how bad it is. Especially if it was so good in Final Fantasy VII (and its own game, in my opinion).
And hey, despite complaining earlier, only one of the moments I enjoyed made it to the finals (I just like Wutai's design, and find the Materia steal scene fun).
Also, while Quistis halting an important mission was dumb, and clearly the only way the otherwise good writers (in my opinion) could complicate things enough to stall for time and/or give the players more to do - Rinoa still deserved that apology.
