Yiazmat down. Thank god for the 4X speed mode. I agree with Karifean that having attribute lowering skills significantly make the fight easier, but it also makes the sheer endurance match of it all that more noticeable. I killed him in my second attempt and would have finished him off in my first attempt if the damn beast didn't get super lucky with his instant death spell towards the end. With him down, I only need to do a few more things to platinum this beast.
I have tried my hands at the Trial Mode and it's pretty cool. Best part of it is that it helps you fill the Bestiary faster and it's debatably a better means of getting some of the rarest stuff in the game. I've reached the 80th floors on my two attempts. My first one was stopped at the rematch with Zeromus who still has his no magic rule in full effect making this fight pretty intense with all the undead and gravity magic being thrown around. My second attempt saw me beat him with the help of Excalibur and and making Basch only target the undead while my other two party members focused on Zeromus. I reached the fight where I had to take on Reddas' bargain bin underlings who are helped by twelve pirates using guns. I learned fairly quickly that the rules with guns like ignoring defense still applies to your party.

Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
Oh damn nice to see you returning to this one. Yeah the pirates are a really damn hard stage actually.
Yeah that was really hard, I think I took the mobs out with some motes and then screamed while focusing down the two bosses.
Trial mode is so much fun. The final battle with the 5 judges is so difficult but in all the right ways.
I could have taken the pirates down had I not gotten so beat up in the previous rounds. I came super close to losing in the round with the four Reaver enemies. Like I was seriously sweating bullets. The battle against the Holy and Dark Entites were also pretty intense since their constantly targeting you and makes it impossible to switch out characters until someone is dead.

I still haven't been able to survive more than 5 seconds against the judges. I don't think I'll ever knock that one out.
I have been thinking I need to level up my team more. we're only in our mid-70s. I spent most of my night trying to get a Lv. 99 Red Chocobo to spawn so I can get more ribbons and the materials for the Tournesol. Figure Trial Mode is a perfect reason to farm for all of the ultimate weapons. That and I still need to take out Omega MK XII in the main game.

Just now getting around to this remaster.
I'm only a couple hours in, but really enjoying it so far. There isn't much I can say that hasn't already been said about the quality of life improvements, but I really enjoy the overlay map.
I never did beat the original on PS2 but I played a good amount of it. I've generally avoided the fast forward feature, since this is my first playthrough in so many years I just want to take everything in. But that being said, I have turned it on to get to fetch quests faster. Otherwise, I've left it off for general exploration.
I made a second Reks save file in case I wanted to use some RNG manipulation on chests, but I might not even worry about that.
The best visual improvement by a country mile was getting rid of Vaan's nightmarish chest armor.
Honestly the fast forward feature is pretty slick, especially for grinding or getting past certain notorious areas *cough* Yensa Sandsea *cough* and I also wouldn't worry too much about chest manipulations since like 90% of all the good stuff has a 100% drop rate the first time you open the chest.
Glad you're enjoying it though.

Really wanting to grab TZA now it's on steam, but damn if it ain't pricey.
Sale starts on Thursday so be on the lookout. XII might just get a discount
K I bought it xD
Any tips or things I should think about in starting? I haven't played since OG 12 around 10 years ago.
Main thing is just choosing classes for each character, and then after that it comes down to which espers you want to give them unlock more of their board.

You can give each character two jobs, and there are twelve jobs so you can pretty much cover them all if you want. You can take a look at some guides to see which jobs combo well. I think archer and red battlemage is one of my favorite configurations
