There will be no FFXV-2.

Tabata told Polygon magazine that he and SE have no plans on making a full fledged sequel to FFXV. Instead the team wishes to simply expand the story and world in small ways with DLC like the ones for Noctis' entourage.
Tababta is said that making a sequel would take too much time and worries he would lose the momentum generated by the main game's release and the content still being made for it. Instead he wishes to expand the world like future plans to expand on event that transpire over the course of the games final chapters as an example, as well as creating more DLC episodes for other characters as well as the new Comrade Multiplayer mode.
With new PC and mobile versions on the horizon, it may be a good idea for SE to simply work on improving the latest installment of the iconic franchise.

Good, let XV be milked while another team works on XVI.

This is good news. FFXV is a dead cow already.
