I don't really care for either of these, but I'll marginally give it to Witcher 3. I don't really care for the gameplay of Western style RPGs, but that particularly holds true for games in the mold of Baldur's Gate. At least Witcher 3 somewhat ventures out of that into decent combat. It still has some typical Western style interface ideas that turn me off, so I never got too far in Witcher 3.
Big nostalgia for BGII, but the Witcher 3 is the culmination of an amazing story that spans seven books and three games. By the end of it you’re just crying that it’s all done. Plus, you know, there’s the pride aspect that means I have to vote for it
BG2 is kind of slow and clunky now, and I've sadly seen all it has to offer, but there is a chance that was the first RPG I bought for my first gaming PC and I have to vote for it.
I'm going to have to abstain courteously from this round. I haven't gotten around to The Witcher and I never even finished Baldur's Gate 1, let alone play the sequel.
True beauty exists in things that last only for a moment.
Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
What do you mean by less heroic? He’s very nuanced and he goes through some interesting changes. Plus, after the first two books which are collections of shorts, he becomes less of a protagonist and it’s really Ciri that is the main protagonist of the novels.
I can tell you that, even though the Witcher 3 is probably my favorite game of all time, I still like the books so much better as they give so much more weight to everything that happens through excellent characters (also, if you’re team Triss, you are wrong). The writing is excellent, though apparently the English translation can’t capture that.
Either way, just read them and see for yourself, as there super worth it. And I don’t care that I sound like a broken record - if you haven’t gotten into the Witcher at all yet, start with the books. They make everything that happens in the games so much more meaningful.
Witcher 3 is through! The other game sadly didn't get through the gate.
