I like his cuddly-ness!
Reminds me of a Pikachu teddy bear/backpack I had as a kid.
Years of Pokemon stuffed animals have prepared me for this moment.
It makes sense, but for some people it has become a "Some dinosaurs had feathers?" moment.
Besides, I'm pretty sure to separate Ash's Pikachu from other Pikachus, some of them had unique haircuts.
he's a rodent come on people (I mean yeah hairless rodents exist but for the most part?)
Fluffy? Sure. PG version of Deadpool? Nah
He would have realistically been fluffy anyway, so I don't see how it insults the original design - it is the original design in a sense, at least it's basically how it would have looked in real life.
I get that it's not that obvious in the game and anime, but from a realistic stand point it makes sense, so it's surprising it's such a big revelation to some people.
i'm incredibly smurfing angry about this tbh
harassed some nintendo employees on twitter about it and i feel a little better
i had no idea people thought he wasn't fluffy? are people actually upset about this?
Everyone knows Pikachu is made out of cheese.
It is a little-known fact that cheese is actually a very good conductor of electricity. Pikachu is able to regulate his body temperature so he is always at 0 degrees. If this was any higher then the thermal radiation caused by the electrical current would cause Cheese Pikachu to melt.
If you read the lore around Pokemon Generation 4, many wild Pikachu's had contracted a virus rendering them unable to regulate body temperature. Melted Pikachu corpses can be spotted in various location in Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire (but not Emerald). They even made an appearance in certain battle screens where Pokemon were made to fight on the Pikamelts (the Mega Devolved form of Pikachu) - See below screenshot. This is why fire-type moves were super-effective against Pikachu (though only in Gen 4).
Also, Pikacheese was the draft name during Pikachu's design phase.
In summary, it's a hard 'Nay' on Fluffy Pikachu.
