I wouldn't lose any sleep if there wasn't a single FF character.
We still have a Hercules world, and with the exception of 358/2, Hades gimmick is always to send an FF character there. I imagine if we keep the trope alive, it will be Lightning chosen to face Sora and Hercules. I'm sure we'll get a few FF characters, and I'm sure they'll be as relevant as they've always been.
