What was Old is New again...

What is something from the older FFs you would like to see in future releases? A certain combat style, maybe a certain creature like Moombas, a certain style of dungeon, or maybe a particular story element. Also, please no sarcastic "how about a game released on time" or " how about a finished game" or "how about one where the writing doesn't suck" type comments. We're not here to discuss people's current grievances with the franchise, instead I'm curious to see what elements from the older games do people feel would be cool to see in current hardware.

The one I'd like to see is the least likely because Square is likely to see it as a step backward. I want characters with rigid class structure like FFIV. I'm okay with mixing in some customization options (a bit of new with the old) but I'd really like for characters to be defined by their set role (e.g. healer, mage, physical damage dealer) with some possible tweaking but not messing with the core role.

I can agree with a more rigid class system. I also would love a combat system closer to traditional Turn Based or FFV era ATB.

I would love to see a world map again with a functional air ship.

I want the four crystals to come back and give us classes.

Or unlock classes by leveling base classes like in Tactics.

A world map would be fun again.

A world map, moombas (and the Shumi tribe as a result), options in dialogue that impact events down the line, more customisation (see: materia system, that kind of level), classes are okay but I prefer the FFV system if we're going down that road. An exaggerated version of the materia system would be kinda cool, so it wasn't so same-y and if you focused on battle it would seriously, massively inhibit your ability to do magic etc.

I would also love for the Dancer running gag to return. You know, where you enter a bar or something and some random person decides to dance for you.

That was so adorable with FFIV DS version where Cecil would sometimes dance and twirl with them. The FFV piano skill would be fun to come back too.
