Do you think that they changed the FF battle system because KH was doing so well ? Or is this theory just as bad as Flat Earth ?

I feel KH made them more confidant in their ability to produce action games, but I would argue that the shift to Action RPG combat was likely more of them just following trends. Between all of the western style games that utilize it and the fact that some of the better Japanese RPGs of last gen were action combat based is the greater culprit here.
Hiroyuki Ito, who made the ATB stem in the first place, stated back in the PS2 era that he strongly believed the genre would move towards Action RPG combat as just a natural evolution.
True beauty exists in things that last only for a moment.
Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
I really don't care for Kingdom Hearts but it's more than likely just SE following the trend.
YE RAGIN', AYE?
FF's battle system has been changing since before KH, so no, it's unrelated.
Nor do I think they're doing a widespread move to ARPG territory. Two games, one of which is a remake (not to mention both starting out as Nomura projects, even if one changed to Tabata), is not a trend. Hell, we have two FF MMORPGs, don't see people worrying that every FF is going to be an MMORPG.
Finally, if KH really had influenced FF like that, the XIII trilogy would be ARPGs, and they're not.
Exactly. Nomura game’s are ARPGs. Doesn’t mean all of FF will remain ARPG
They were trying to move away from turn based as early as FFX, which funny enough ended up going completely in the opposite direction by the time it finished development.
