Default Would you work for Square Enix?

If you could have any position at Square Enix that you wanted, what would it be?

I'd just be a story writer for their American division, so I'd probably be working on US exclusive gaming. Unless I can learn how to translate Japanese to English and work on translating their Japanese titles to English so I can work on games like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts.

    Discuss.

The chief executive. I'd tank the company's share price through well intentioned but ultimately naive decisions made due to my lack of knowledge of the gaming market on a professional level and managing a corporation of that size. I'd then take a golden farewell payoff while dozens of employees are laid off due to my incompetence.

I'd then use the prestige of having CEO of Square Enix on my resume to propel myself into a job as chief exec of a failing small-to-medium sized retail outlet and the cycle would repeat itself. I'd stop when I had caused over a thousand layoffs and could afford numerous jetskis. I don't even know how to use a jetski to be honest with you but I feel insecure and very nouveau riche without half a dozen or so of them.

Nope. If I randomly break into the games industry it'll be with an adventure game or something. Indie development or no deal.

I don't want to work in the games industry as it is, because it would turn something I enjoy into a job, and one that is punishing when it comes to how brutal it can be. However, in a fantasy environment where everything is beautiful, I'd be a producer/director, the guy that can make decisions and asks people to do stuff, creates concepts without having to do the grunt work, that sort of thing. But in reality it would destroy me mentally.

In the real world? Community rep. The job was up for grabs in London at one point and I had all the right stuff behind me to go for the job but I don't want to live in London and am happy with my job right now, so had no reason to go for it beyond living out a little fantasy. Happy with my choice.

Thread title question - No. Game companies are terrible places to work. I won't work for any of them.

Actual question of the thread - Fine then, Executive Producer or Director.

This thread made me look at their job openings and I may just go for that data scientist position.
