There's a youtube channel called 4-8productions that LOVES him some FF7. He might have made a video with his thoughts on good play through guides/advice.

I haven't played the game all the way through in years, but I'd think almost any solid guide has everything you'd need to know. A lot of it might depend on what platform/version of the game you're playing too.
