Thread: Battlefront

    Default Battlefront

Would you play a Final Fantasy in the style of Call of Duty? And no, DoC doesn't count just because it's a shooter.

More specifically, I would love to play a title in the vein of Star Wars Battlefront. You could choose to play as either the "good guys" or the "villains". In the case of FF7, you'd either be Avalanche or ShinRa with access to any of 7's main characters as well as Biggs, Jessie, Wedge, and perhaps the prior era's Elfé and Shears or, in the case of the corporation, various members of SOLDIER perhaps including Deep Ground and that's not even mentioning Turks. Because of the number of OCs, any FF would either have to be its own title (i.e. FF7: Battlefront or whatever), or the OCs would have to be limited by popularity which means we'd likely have access to the same characters you'd play as in Dissidia.

Again, the only real difference in game mechanics here would be that you'd spend a larger amount of time doing battle as regular grunts like ShinRa MPs or SOLDIER 3rds. I'm still citing FF7 because it's the title for which I have the most experience. I recently replayed 8 but that's not saying much.

Speaking of 8, obviously the armies would be Balamb SeeD vs Galbadia although it also has the third option of Esthar which makes things interesting if only to me.

I don't know. I really liked the PS2 version of Star Wars Battlefront and I also like Masters of Teras Kasi and I've been wanting to see more games like these outside of the Star Wars universe. A few FF7 characters cameoed in Ehrgeiz which was exciting for a little bit but left me wanting more. I've never been entirely satisfied with the way Dissidia works. I mean it's great... mostly, but it's not a real fighting game.

That rant aside, I'm still talking about a Final Fantasy, erm, "war" game, I guess. I'm likely alone in this. I usually am when I present ideas like this. "A man can dream though..."
    Jack: How do you know?

Will: It's more of a feeling really.

Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?

    Will: No.

If Demolition Man were remade today

Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
    Huxley: NO!
    Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
    Spartan: But Huxley.
    Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.

By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.

Due to my incredibly strong aversion towards Musuo style games, I'm going to give a hard no for an answer on this one.
