Thread: Part 2 Mini-Boss list predictions

  1. #1

Default Part 2 Mini-Boss list predictions

The following are random encounters in the OG which I believe will become one-time boss numbers in Part 2's chapter progression based on the patterned precedent set by the Remake. Obviously, any boss fight that exists in the OG will be replicated in Part 2 and doesn't need to be listed here. Obviously pre-existing Mini-Bosses don't need to be listed either (i.e. Gorki, Shake, Chekhov, and Staniv, etc.)
Also bear in mind these predictions will likely be mostly Sidequests. I also wager the sequel to have more Underwater combat and a Boss for the Submarine Minigame (akin to how they handled M.O.T.O.R.) Most likely, Emerald Weapon would be "fought" using the sub's torpedoes.

    MiniBoss/SubBoss:
Hellish Rider (Midgar Area, possibly a G-Bike boss)
    Zolom (Midgar Marsh/Mythril Mines)
Madrogue (Mythril Mines: win or steal Grand Glove)
    Shinra Commander (Ft Condor minigame)
Unkamen Ninja & Wutai Bandits (Junon Area, "sidequest")
Grand Galan (Costa Del Sol, maybe)
    Cockatrice (Mt. Corel)
    Bagnadrana (maybe)
    Triceratank (Battle Arena)
    Bullmotor (Corel Prison)
    Chimeric Mantis (Gongaga)
    Arid Golem (Cosmo Canyon)
    Griffon (Cosmo Canyon)
    Valron (Nibel Area)
    Gyrotine (Shinra Manor)
    Yin & Yang (Shinra Basement)
    Black Cauldron (bats)
    Adamantoise (Wutai Beach)
    Garuda (DaChao)
    Dual Horn (outside TotA)
    Tornado (outside TotA)
    Octulus (TotA)
    Gemini (TotA)
    Doorbull (TotA)
    Antrodemus (Bone Village)
    Gluttony (Coral Valley)
    Acrophis (Coral Valley Exit)
    Snow (Glacier)
    Magnagard (Glacier)
    Stilva (Gaia's Cliff)
    Malboro (Gaia's Cliff)
    Coeurl (Gaia's Cliff)
    Gigantes (Whirlwind Maze)
    Dragon Rider (Whirlwind Maze)
    Hippogriff (Mideel Area)
    Sea Worm (Mideel Beach)
    Ghost Ship (Seafloor Reactor)
    Guardian (Seafloor Reactor)
    Three Unknown (Sunken Guernica)

    Great Crater bosses (nearly everything):
    Pollensalta
    Darkfire Drake
    Master Tonberry
    Death Dealer
    Ahriman
    Armored Golem
    Behemoth King
    Wolfram
    Scissors
    Necromanced Drake

Again, these are my personal predictions going off a pattern I've seen. I DON'T CLAIM ANY INSIDER INFO.

Also, I changed some names because 1) more than a few enemy names in Remake were changed and 2) I felt like it.

Seem likely? Did I miss anything? Some other mini-game or sidequests?

OP's Note: Italics represent names I mutilated for my own entertainment. Bolded names represented randoms I'm certain will become bosses. Great Crater is bolded because I'm sure that every name in that section will be a boss/mini-boss.

im not going to google its name because none of you are worth the effort but the badass dude riding the swinging blade back and forth in the shinra mansion would make a gr8 boss

Ghirofelgo. I renamed him Gyrotine because the original name sounds hella weird and upon looking up its meaning, the name is just hella lame. I'm not suggesting that Gyrotine is better but I feel it relays the concept of what the guy is: a gyrating guillotine.
    Jack: How do you know?

Will: It's more of a feeling really.

Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?

    Will: No.

If Demolition Man were remade today

Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
    Huxley: NO!
    Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
    Spartan: But Huxley.
    Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.

By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.

Long-Swordsman. Or sometimes I call him Masamune. I call Don Corneo "Raging Butthead".

They made Hell House a boss, they're definitely going to make Ghirofelgo a boss, as well as those creepy twins in the cellar

Can't wait for us all to get completely merked by Carry Armor

Roche is 3rd class. I beat a bunch of those guys on my way into Shinra HQ. Better work his way up the ranks at least to 2nd class if he wants to challenge Cloud again.

    Default Whole Pt 2 prediction

    Final Fantasy VII Reunion (R-Pt2):
(disclaimer: this predictions list is mostly for my entertainment so some things may sound ridiculous, boss names are changed, events are out of sequence or completely omitted and/or replaced, etc. Also get over yourself, get over your nostalgia, Aerith's death is not important, Zack's death was not important. Alrighty, moving on)

Note: chapter structure has been stolen from maybee.
    • Chapter One: The Road To Kalm. Group travels to next town with Red now playable [Equipment: Mythril Collar with Fire and Healing Materia]. Different outcomes based on which pair you travel with (A/T, A/B, B/T, B/R, R/T, R/A). World map: like XII or XV. Quests and "hunts." Sidequest G-Bike boss: Hellish Rider.
    • Chapter Two: The More You Know (flashback sequence). Somewhat guest Sephiroth can be given commands a la Summon mechanics in battle versus green dragon. Thissequence will likely address how a Shinra truck was able to cross multiple rivers too deep to traverse on foot. Also past-Nibelheim will be a hub with it's own sidequests. Sephiroth maxed materia: First Strike, Fire, Ice, Wind, Lightning, Healing, Revival. Masamune skill: Hell's Gate. *cha-cha-cha*
    • Chapter Three: Don't Lose Your Head. Tifa joins as playable character during trek up Nibel. Boss fight: Stilva. Cloud is playable as Nibelheim burns. Cloud vs Sephiroth boss fight.
    • Chapter Four: On the Way to a Cannon. Chocobo Bill requests Cloud's help with Midgar Zolom boss (it's been eating chocobos). Encounter Rude and Elena in Mythril Mines. Boss: Madrogue (can acquire Grand Glove). Next:Can stop in at Fort Condor where the strategy game has been updated so each hireling has more detailed design and combat animation. Regardless of performance, sidequest boss will be Shinra Commander.
    • Chapter Five: Back In the Saddle (Junon). (No Bottomswell). Priscilla's grandfather will be hassled by Shinra and the group will save him: Shinra boss fight. (No dolphin ride.) Sidequest: "Unkamen Thief" (lol) leads to encountering Yuffie who will give the group Gil Bomb (Coin Toss) or Telekinesis [command] materia (ranged ver. of "D.Blow"). Topside, Cloud opts for "discretion" and grabs a uniform from a locker. (Permanently acquire MP alt outfit) Shinra trio arrive and escort him to the parade. "Rampant Death Machine" sidequest boss.
    • Chapter Six: Across the Ocean (Junon boat). Cloud dreams. Boss fight: Remnant Cloud. Huge boat has its own sidequests. Hunt boss: it's BOTTOMSWELL! Story Boss fight: Jenova Adventor.
    • Chapter Seven: Off the Rails (Costa Del Sol and Mt Corel). Can purchase beach attire at local shop. (No Hojo this time) Group sees Rufus in a chopper heading "West". Heading out of CDS, group may encounter Grand Galan, a Hunt boss. Traversing the coal mines: attempting to take the Phoenix materia (you read right) triggers a boss fight against multiple Cockatrices. At the bridge switch, the group fights boss Bagnadrana.
    • Chapter Eight: Warm Welcome (Corel). Barret playable during flashback. As he doesn't have his gun-arm yet, he'll use melee attacks. Shinra boss battle. North Corel has more quests and hunts.
    • Chapter Nine: Seventh Wonder (Gold Saucer). Cloud takes a girl on a date: Tifa, Aerith, or Yuffie (Red is not interested and Barret ditches the group). After wasting some time in the "Realm of Wonder," they meet Cait Sith who suggests they ride the interactive roller coaster over at "Hyperspeed." Here they meet Diamond who admires Cloud's build and suggests he'd have fun in his "Gladiatorium." Cloud fights a few rounds and decides it's time to leave but the group can't find Barret, so all split up to search Gold Saucer for the "Big Guy with a Big Gun strapped to his arm." The group finds Barret standing over the bodies of dead GS employees and Shinra Soldiers. Before we learn what's up, there's a boss fight vs Bullmotor and Diamond has his guards gas them, waking in the Corel Prison.
    • Chapter Ten: Doing Hard Time. Aerith's "special" materia is briefly stolen. Barret vs Dyne solo boss fight. Cloud gets a Jenova migraine.
    • Chapter Eleven: "Gone. Gone. Gone."In Gongaga, Aerith recognizes Zack's home by the destroyed reactor he mentioned in stories. Another Cloud migraine. The girls are concerned. Aerith spends some time alone. Cloud's flashback includes his time in the specimen pod with Zack beside him. Hunt boss: Chimeric Mantis.
    • Chapter Twelve: Alone in the Dark. In Cosmo Canyon, Barret educates the group on the origins of Avalanche. Nanaki regales us of his father's brave sacrifice and states that it is his duty to carry on his legacy by continuing to defend the valley. Shinra attacks claiming that an Avalanche cell is using the village as a base of operations. Bugenhagen tells Nanaki to travel with the others as the canyon will never be safe so long as Shinra remains in power. The group sneaks out the back of the canyon but must fight several Specters and the Unsent Warlord first. Hunt bosses: Arid Golem; Griffon
    • Chapter Thirteen: Getting No Reception. Once at Nibelheim, Cloud begins to freak out because everything is rebuilt exactly as he remembers. Even the actors in town resemble people he knew in the village, but he and Tifa know they are fakes especially when they see his mother and her father. Waking up in Tifa's room, Cloud hears her playing her melody on the piano. On their way out of town, one of the actors asks for their help as one of their own has disappeared in Shinra Manor. The group saves the actor from the Lost Number, finding a key to the basement where they meet and recruit Vincent (after a playable flashback). Hunt bosses: Ghostly Guillotine; Yin & Yang; Black Cauldron; Valron
    • Chapter Fourteen: A Little Bit Tipsy. In Rocket Town, the group encounters Leslie who is trying to find a means to fly over to Wutai where he's heard Don Corneo is hiding out. Shera has the group retrieve a bunch of parts scattered about town to repair Cid's plane. After saving the rocket from an attack by a group of gremlins, Cid joins as a guest and the group flies over to Wutai.
    • Chapter Fifteen: Two Birds. In Wutai, Leslie, Turks and the Don have a standoff with Don holding Elena and Yuffie hostage. Leslie gets (SPOILER)his fiance back. Wutai blames Avalanche for everything at first, but then they fix all misunderstandings. Yuffie refuses to leave until she has cleared the air with her father. He tells her he cannot acknowledge her until she conquers the Pagoda. Sidequest: 5-tier Boss battle.
    • Chapter Sixteen: Key to Her Heart. Gold Saucer second date (depends on choice in Chapter Nine. If Cloud goes on a date with Aerith, she hints about his future. Cloud has a nightmare and learns what's going to happen. Arena fight required to win Keystone, Triceratank boss battle.
    • Chapter Seventeen: Simply Amazing. TotA maze. Boss fights: Dual Horn, Tornado, Gemini, Octulus, Ruby Dragon, Walled Incubus.
    • Chapter Eighteen: Sleepwalking. Final battle with Jenova Theologia.

*Yuffie's playstyle: square defaults to close-range melee attacks. Her "unique" is Throw, a powerful ranged attack (takes time to charge). In a similar manner to Aerith's "regular" spells, Yuffie uses non-MP-consuming magic to retrieve her thrown weapons.

    • Cait Sith: Roll of the Dice (picks a different weapon), Roulette Rush (death, crit, or debuff on random target), Let's Get Reel* (random buff/debuff on a target)
*Let's Get Reel - Lucky Lady Seven: attacks deal damage starting 1-7, then 11-77, then 111-777, then 1111-7777. Damage range is reset if an strike misses or is dodged. Each range has less and less hit%.

    • Vincent*: Gaulian Beast ("pitiless" lycanthrope... default Limit Break), Tantrum (GB-skill), Roar of Torment (GB-skill), Diablo (lv2 Limit Break), Nightmare (D-skill), Muramasa (crit or death, D-skill), Livewire (weapon skill), Wildfire (weapon skill)
*Vincent's transformations behave like Summons, mostly doing their own thing, but when Vincent's ATB fills, player can choose to allocate one of his skills to a given target. His "unique" is Strafe Shot, firing multiple times as he dodges to the side. Must actively dodge to charge this.

      New Materia:
    • Magic:
      Rupture (Quake, Break, Petrify)
      Gravity (Demi, Demira, Demiga)
      Transform (Miniaturize, Amphibious, Swinify, Doppelganger)
      Eject (Smokescreen, Ejection)
      Comet (Impact)
Channel Shiva (Freeze, Whiteout, Ice Missiles, Avalanche)
Channel Ifrit (Flare, Radiant Plume, Crimson Dive, Explosion)
Channel Leviathan (Geyser, Jetstream, Hurricane, Aqualung)
    • Command:
Flash (all attacks hit twice, % death)
      Alchemy (Morph, Card)
      Deathblow (increases power of triangle)
      Manipulate (turns enemies into "summons")
Mime (can copy abilities for one ATB which normally cost 2. can also copy own Limit Breaks, spells for no MP, or triangles at full strength. Skills must be used between each use of Mime)
      Telekinesis (single-use, long-ranged attack)
      Gil Bomb (100gil - 1hp damage rate)
    • Enemy Skills:
      Amphibian Anthem
      Death Ward
      Flamethrower
      Goblin Punch
      Chocobo Roundhouse
    • Summon:
Hades (Shadow Flare, Pandora's Box, Final Attack: Death Sentence)
      Alexander
      Titan
      Ramuh
      Kujata
      Typhoon
Round Knights (random knight, Final Attack: Ultimate End [all 13])
    • Support:
Follow-Up (follows a physical ability with a magic attack)
Countercast (responds to damage with a magic attack, requires ATB and MP)
Final Cast (spell cast on MP reaching zero)
Four Cast (spell repeats four times)
MP Surge (using more MP makes spells more powerful)
Sneak-Attack (use attached magic or command materia at the start of battle, excludes enemy skill, but includes Flash and Gil Bomb)
    • Independent:
Coverage* (deflect damage from ally by block in front of them, lv2 Counterstrike still requires active blocking)
      Intimidate (encounter enemies less frequently)
Entice (enemies repopulate at faster rates)
Speed Up (increases rate at which ATB fills)
Infuriate (take more damage but build Limit faster)
Omnicast (any spell affects all targets)
Tetra Elemental (adds all elements to attack or defense)

*Coverage: in Remake, many times while you are guarding in front of an ally, they will still take damage from the attack. Coverage materia addresses this issue, allowing the wielder to take the full brunt of the attack while the original intended target goes unaffected. This can also work on Tonberry's Chef's Knife although the wielder will still die after the Counterattack.

The only obvious ones before Junon I can think of are Zolom, Turks (in Mythril Mine) and Yuffie in the forest.

Obviously the game could continue far beyond that though.

I do hope they have plenty of bosses though. That was one of the highlights in Remake. Probably don't need quite that many though!
