If there is one thing that's been good about this awful year, it's been the Song Machine project by the Gorillaz. Anyone else listening to this?
These are probably my favorite tracks so far:
Love the guitar work by Peter Hook of Joy Division and New Order fame in this one.
Though many of the other songs have been growing on me a lot. I think Momentary Bliss is still the only one I'm still indifferent to, and even that one is growing on me.
Gorillaz, for me, is really at their best when it's predominantly a CD of just the band and then 3 or 4 guests.
I was super burned out after Humanz and so The Now Now was a nice moment of respite for me. Really enjoyed that one.
There are some nuggets here for me, especially the Robert Smith feature. I also appreciate that the Gorillaz concept is collaborative by nature, but I guess i'm just stuck in my ways with a primary preference for Albarn and Hewlett.
