:monster: Taking bets on when it will come out.

Let's start one of the newer traditions with the series, taking bets on when we'll actually get a release.

2023 keeps rattling in my head, but the trailer looked a bit more finished than some other FF trailers we've had in the past. I may optimistically say 2022.

2022. But that may be too optimistic just on the basis of the fact that it looks way more along the way than XIII or Versus did when they were announced.

Also, Wolf what are we betting on if we win/lose ? Our first borns ? The keys to Fynn's car ? A date with Christmas ? A kick up the arse ?

    You'll win Fynn's microwave.

What’s the funniest about these suggestions is that I don’t own a microwave and my only car is my work car.

So yeah, you can bet on the things I don’t own, that’s fine by me

That's the joke, the prize is nothing.

    I wasn’t aware you knew!

    ...
Wait does everyone here know I don’t own a microwave?

They almost always announce their games too early, so I would say at least 2023, but maybe later.

I would hope for 2022 but 2023 seems more likely. What I wonder is what will be released first, FFXVI or FFVIIR-2.

I think it’s fair to assume that XVI has been in development for much longer than VIIR2. Plus, one is headed by a person known for having their trout really together in terms of management, while the other, well...

The only info on this is a job ad from November 2019 where it said the game "is now going into full production":
    https://www.rpgsite.net/news/9790-fi...s-as-fake-news

Given that they only released Shadowbringers in July 2019, it seems entirely possible that they only started it quite recently, which would probably mean 2022 at the absolute earliest.

My guess is that FF7R Part 2 comes out first.

    I want to say holiday 2022 but 2023 wouldn't be a surprise.

To be honest I don't mind regardless. That's something I've gotten pretty good about over the past couple of years. There's just so much to play, read, watch, experience etc that I'm not waiting on baited breath for release dates anymore. I'll be happy to play it when it comes out and just do a bunch of other cool stuff in the meantime.

I don't know if VIIR Part 2 will come out first. Yes they have all the assets ready for the most part, but the post release interviews give the impression they have only started pre-production at most for the game. XVI by contrast may have had a full year start on it and already looks a tad closer to being on it's way to being finished. The other factor is that the develipment teams have different track records of getting trout done. VIIR had a five year turn around period between it's announcement and it's release. The XIV team on the other hand were able to completely retool the XIV original within two years, and have consistently released expansions every two years. While I imagine making a new IP will take longer than they are used to, this team tends to be better about releasing things on schedule.

Likewise, VIIReps2 will likely have a slower production because most of the gaming community assumes it will be released for both PS4 and the PS5. Whereas XVI has only been in development for the next gen system, so not as many resources are going to be stretched. This is also assuming a smaller separate team will likely be working on a PS5 port for Episode 1.

It's up in the air but I think I'm mostly with WK on this one.

Given that FFVIIR came out this year and we already have a trailer for this game, I'd say this might come out first.

On the other hand there's so much they can reuse in R-2 because they already have a basis to go off of so

It's funny cause the dead horse joke is that SE takes 35 years between game releases yet simultaneously there are a select number who also believe R-2 will be coming in red hot after the first one.
