Match 8 is up, and this time it's all about that sweet sweet gameplay. Which game has the better gameplay?

Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
I quite like Souls-like gameplay, but Cold Steel 4 has the edge here for me because:
a) it's turn-based, which I still prefer over action combat in general
and b) their respective iterations; Cold Steel 4 has the advantage of having all those games before it, all the gameplay improvements game after game. At this point it's one of my favorite turn-based battle systems, a long ways from the struggle-to-like-it gameplay I found in Trails in the Sky. Dark Souls on the other hand, while not entirely in its infancy (there was Demon Souls before it), had a ways to go still. DS2 and DS3 both improved things, and Bloodborne went off in a slightly different direction (which I liked even more).
I actually very much prefer Trails of Cold Steel IV, but I made the mistake of trying to do the poll at like 2am, and I chose Dark Souls by accident . Maybe you could take that into account when breaking the tie, Wolf .

Playing Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood
Final Fantasy Games Completed
II, IV, VI, VII, X, X-2, XII, XIII, XIII-2, Lightning Returns, XV, Type-0
I rolled to see who would win this one. I love Dark Souls, but I'm unfamiliar to the other title so it only seemed fair to let chance have a factor in this decision. As luck would have it, Trails IV won the toss so it will advance to the next round.
