True beauty exists in things that last only for a moment.
Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
I really don't like FFXII's battle system and I doubt Zodiac Age does much to fix that, but I also know absolutely nothing about Ar nosurge's gameplay, so not voting.
No contest. Both games are fun in their own way, and Ar nosurge has some interesting side activities like Genometrics, but FFXII's battle system is much more satisfying. That's more than enough to put it over the top for me.

XII already had some of my favorite gameplay ever, but TZA went and just kicked it into overdrive. The job system and rebalancing is one thing but that speed up function? Swoon!
This was actually a rather tough one to decide.
I like that you can automate FF12's combat and the fact you can speed things up in TZA, but it's still using parts of that abonimable ATB system.
Ar nosurge uses a fairly simple combat system, but one I really liked in Ar Tonelico 2, where you have varying attacks on your turn depending on which button you press (similar to xenogears) and you can time your defenses to reduce damage during enemy turns.
Both have their ups and downs IMO which makes them about equal to me. That said, gameplay is more than just combat. FF12 has much better exploration than Ar nosurge, hands down. I like exploration. FF12 wins.
