Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
mystic quest
ff1
ff2
ff3
ff5
everything else if I started, I finished
never played ffx, ff15
I finished all the ones I I've started, even if I didn't complete all of them on my first time.
I haven’t completed XIII-2 and haven’t started Lightning Returns. If extended to MMOs I’ve stated and not completed both of them.
Final Fantasy Crystal Defenders.
...it's not worth looking up (because I know you haven't heard of it) I promise.
Joke’s on you because I played that game a lot back when I still had an iPhone 3G.
I mean, it was pretty good for a phone game at the time
I've got plenty of these. FF2, FF3, FF13, FF15, FFX-2 if that counts, which it shouldn't, but if it does. FF Type 0 or whatever, which also shouldn't count, but if it does. Mystic Quest, which REALLY shouldn't count. Oh yeah. I also started a trial period for FFXIV. I think I literally only played it once.
FFI, FFIII, FFV (smurf that game), FFVI, FFXIII Lightning Returns.
FFIII I just couldn't get into. FFV (I know a lot of you hardcore FFV fans will laugh at me for this) just has a ridiculous difficulty spike at the end where, if you hadn't got a super strong combination of jobs, most bosses are impossible. I got to the last boss and couldn't bring myself to grind out the win. FFVI I've gotten through so many times but then got bogged down in training and getting everything for the last area and never did it... And LR - sod games on a time limit.
Just XIV of the main series. Of the sequels, I can think of XIII-3 and VII-DoC and probably some other spinoffs I can't recall.

I absolutely know what you mean about FFV. I'm pretty sure I cheated a bit to level up and even then Exdeath has some really cheap moves that power leveling won't get around. He does one move that like petrifies you and kills you at the same time and it might as well be a remove character from battle move for all I could figure out what to do with it. I believe I tried multiple different ways to heal it and none seemed to work.
Honestly found ExDeath to be more annoying than Omega. I probably died a lot more on Omega, but the Omega battle is really short and I kind of expected ExDeath to be cakewalk after Omega. The fact that he wasn't became a major source of annoyance to me.
Can one ever truly finish XIV?
As for me, I've played all of the main ones + Tactics, except FF3. I have not played any mainline sequels or general spin-offs, iirc. So here's what I have played and have not finished.
V (I think I probably got about 50% into it)
Tactics (quit at the boss fight at the chapel? Early on into the game)
IX (I think I had just started the 4th disc when my memory card crashed. I never re-started)
XII (I think I was about 2/3 into it? For the life of me, I cannot remember why I stopped. It is one of my favorite FF's. I plan to play ZA soon)
XIII (I believe I was on Ch8 or Ch9 when I realized I just wasn't having fun and stopped playing)
XV (I'm only a few hours into it, began playing at the start of the pandemic, iirc, but re-org'd my backlog. It's pretty high on my backlog priority list)
Yeah, kinda sad actually, how I dropped off the series in later entries. But, again, XII:ZA and XV are probably in the next handful of backlog games I play next.
edit update:
XV gonna stay on that list. I'm on Ch13 but god, the combat is so bad, especially now w/ the ring, I'll just watch the rest on YouTube. Good god, this game has killed all my excitement for Forspoken.
