It's interesting that you want to see our classifications. I actually have a lot to say about some lol...but anyway, here's mine:
Platformer - Braid (not counting games where platforming is not the main focus, i.e. Metroidvanias, Tomb Raider series, etc)
Puzzle - Braid (uhh...not joking, it has to be counted here, too, right? If no repeats are allowed, and for something more "pure" puzzle-y, then any Puzzle Quest)
RPG - Brai-- jk jk. I have to go w/ Deus Ex I guess. It's "Immersive Sim" first, but at the time it came out, was categorized - and rightfully so - as an RPG. Or else, it'd be Fallout: New Vegas or Final Fantasy VIII.
Action - Nier: Automata or Hyper Light Drifter (sorry, I know, a tie is cheating)
Fighting - Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 or Mortal Kombat 9 (sorry, I know, a tie is cheating)
MMO - Warhammer: Age of Reckoning
FPS - BioShock Infinite
Rhythm - PaRappa the Rapper
Adventure - Gone Home
Racing - Test Drive 5
Sports - Rocket League or NFL Blitz or NBA Jam
Mobile - Fire Emblem Heroes
Survival Horror - Silent Hill 2
4X - n/a? Total War series isn't 4x technically, right? I see there's debate...
Tactical/Strategy - Fire Emblem Fates (tactical) and Ninjatown (strategy)
Sandbox - The Sims
Visual Novel - Coffee Talk
Stealth - Metal Gear Solid 2 or Mark of the Ninja (MGS2 for overall game in stealth category, but MotN for actual stealth gameplay)
