    Braaaaaains Bloodborne is amazing

    That is all.

It is still easily my favorite Souls game and I feel the main reason why is because it manages to really capture Lovecraft's style while still managing to be its own thing. Similar to John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness film.

I've been replaying it recently and I just reaching the part where the story is moving away from werewolf/zombie apocalypse horror to full scale Cosmic Horror, and it's just so smurfing seamless that I'm loving it.

I've owned Bloodborne for a while but haven't got around to playing it yet. I've only ever heard good things though! (Also I keep wanting to add a "u" into the title, like Bloodbourne is the British spelling or something)

    Blooudborne

Easily the most overrated Souls game I have played so far (but to be fair I haven't played Elden Ring yet) and also the worst I have played.

Honestly, I feel Dark Souls 1 is the most overrated of the Souls game. I don't feel it has as many fun boss fights and the second half of the game is a drag. Most Souls games have issues, but I feel too many fans overlook the ones from DS1.

Me neither ;-; I haven't finished a single Dark Souls game. I still really like them though! Back when I was really young, I could never finish Super Metroid, but it was still one of my favs. (I finally finished it as a teen! )

I really wanna try Lies of P, the BlooudBorne clone. One day I'll finish Bloodborne as well, but I lack a console to play it on ._.

Since I've been re-reading Lovecraft lately, I came back to my playthrough. In the main story mode, I'm back in the Unseen village getting ready to deal with the School of Mensis' ritual. So the One Reborn and Micolash are in my immediate future. I did take down that awful three against one gank fight with hunters in the main gaol area. I also finished Cainhurst the previous night.

Optionally, I'm slightly stuck in the Great Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice Dungeon, which is the last "story" relevant Chalice Dungeon that ends with a showdown with the Pthumerian Queen, who is the only boss trophy I have not acquired since I didn't really invest in the Chalice dungeons much in my first playthrough. I'm stuck fighting the Pthumerian Descendant who just has weird timing that I keep messing up, so I'm struggling to either parry him to death or his stupid hand scythes always manage to catch me when I try to dodge because my timing is off. Not helped he's ultra aggressive.

I'm saving the Old Hunters DLC for after the Mergo's Wet Nurse fight as I find the DLC in Souls games usually serve as better final dungeons than the actual story ones. I also made an optional Chalice dungeon because I need better Blood Gems and they are better sources of Blood Echoes than the main game.

My skill level in these types of games is always amusing. Did the One Reborn kill me the first time? Yes. Is he one of the game's easiest bosses? Yes. I got greedy and forgot about the acid vomit pool it sometimes creates and wasn't watching my health. Okay, so then you fought the Celestial Emissary, the second easiest fight in the game behind the Witches of Hemlick, surely you won that first time around, right? Nope, also got killed because I backed off to kill more of his stupid siblings that kept getting in the way of my being able to hit the boss, and forgot the damn thing has Homing Arcane projectiles if I create too much distance between me and it. So I'm batting his siblings and then I proceed to block his magic missiles with my face and died...

Okay, so if you suck this bad, obviously Ebritias, the often lauded most difficult non-DLC boss killed you a dozen times, right? Nope, killed first try. Her fight can be weirdly glitchy because if you jump between her two tail tentacles and hug her back, sometimes, your model just sort of glitches in her and she'll either jump away and you'll fall through her, or most of the time if you can stay on her, 90% of her attacks just miss. I did luck out that she didn't really use A Call from Beyond, because that is technically her only attack that will screw you over with this strategy, but she doesn't really use it often if you're near her sine she prefers thrashing instead. I also took down Martyr Logarius on my second attempt when I did Cainhurst.

I managed to beat the Pthumerian Descendant as well, so I am now only one boss away from fighting the Pthumerian Queen. I also must say that I absolutely love the atmosphere of Upper Cathedral Ward and the Choir HQ. We get another taste of it in the DLC, but even the base game does a great job of pushing the horror elements of this area up to 11. I should probably check to see if I have a few NPC questlines left to do. I know I should be able to do Alberts, but I can't remember if Eileen's is done? I also still have my remaining survivors in the Oedean Chapel to contend with. Guess I'll be chasing Micolash through the Nightmare soon. I learned he was meant to be a much bigger figure in the early drafts of the game and it makes a bit of sense considering he sort of pops up out of nowhere but is this larger than life character.
